« on: February 06, 2011, 06:37:51 pm »

the OS is xp32 bit   clean install with sp3

yet i can understand is why would this build  run so slow    I mean if I open more then 2 application or while downloading a big file
i try to open application or try to burn cd  it all slows down so much

yet my temp is about 25C to 30C

please help    my quad core was faster then this ???

Hi there,

The first thing I would suggest is that you update the BIOS to the latest version which is FC. You can download it from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3527&dl=1#bios
I would recommend using QFlash to update the BIOS rather than the @BIOS Utility.

Secondly, running a 32 Bit will not utilise all of the RAM that you have installed as the maximum it will see is only 4 Gig.

Thirdly, once you have updated your BIOS try disabling the Floppy Drive (if you're not using it) as this can sometimes slow up the system.

Finally, if you are still having problems, could you post back with your full system details as there might be something else causing a problem.
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Wow every thing seem to be looking good at the moment  i can open web site same time watch movies and download

but one question   would xp 64 bit be better   or win 7 64 bit be better

this all i want to do

move from web page to web page fast
open word or exel application   hear mp3  music and watch  camera via capture  card

not into games at the moment

and what would the ideal temp be for these 6 core

thanks

Hi again,

personally I would say go for Windows 7 64 bit as I prefer it over XP. But, if you do think of switching check that your software and other hardware (printer, scanner, etc) will run OK once you have upgraded.

I'm an AMD man myself so can't really offer advice on the CPU temps but the 25C - 30C compare to my Phenom ii X 6 1090T running at 3.8GHz but I am using the Noctua NH-D14 cooler and I would say that the temps you have are pretty good. I'm sure DM or someone else on the forum will soon let you know if I am wrong.  ;)

Hi

Yes absic gave you good advice there and it seems to have paid off.

Tempertures obviously depend on many things including the case it's in and how many fans it has, what cooler you have installled for the CPU, etc, etc.  I would say as long as you can keep it under about 60C you are doing fine. It will take even more than that but I like to keep things runnning cool. The i7 is a very sturdy processor and would actually take 100C but I don't like that idea.

Well I think it would be a good idea if you could list all your components so we have a better idea of what your system consists of. Makes /models please.

Is your Western Digital one of the Green versions ?

Try removing the TV tuner card for now.

yes green one also in the manual it say that if i have one graphic card
for optium performance  if only one pci express graphic is to be install be sure to install in pciex16_1 slot

at the moment it in pciex16_2 slot because it don't fit in slot 1 cause of big after math heat sink on the graphics card

do you think this could cause it to slow down a lot more lagging so much

It is probably all down to you trying to use a Western Digital Green for a boot drive. They are not designed for that but for data storage only.

There was another member only a couple of days ago that couldn't understand why his machine took two hours to install Windows! Exactly the same problem.

I would suggest a SSD if you can run to the expense but if not a Western Digital Black or a Samsung F3.
