GA-H67A-UD3H: use VGA port or DVI port for integrated graphics??
« on: February 11, 2011, 03:37:39 pm »
I just built a PC using the new Sandy Bridge i-2500 processor. It is not used for gaming and I am using integrated graphics.

Performance is generally OK. I have my monitor connected to the DVI port.

When attempting to start Windows Movie Maker, I get this error message, and the app will not run:

"Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available".

Everything I can read about the processor tells me that it supports hardware acceleration by default.

I ran Movie Maker successfully on an older Core 2 Duo with integrated graphics.

Can anyone shed any light on ths?? I am wondering if hardware acceleration is available only through the blue VGA port???

I get a somewhat similar error message when attempting to run a Passmark 3-D benchmark.

Hi

I thought that hardware excelleration was available through either output. I don't see why it should be just the VGA port. You can always make sure of this by using an adapter to test it.
