P67A-UD4 & i5 2500K

Hello,

I have recently bought a Gigabyte P67A-UD4 and an Intel Core i5 2500K processor.
My setup looks like this:

MB: P67A-UD4
Proc: i5 2500K
Mem: A-Data 2*2GB DDR3 1333
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3
Video: GTX470
Case: CoolerMaster HAF932
Pwr: Silverstone Decathlon DA-850 (850W)

Now I have a problem: whenever I shut down the system, the power seems to be still on. In detail:
- power supply fan is on
- cpu fan is on
- system fans on
- case LEDs are on
- motherboard LEDs are on
- HDD is definitely spinning

I have the latest BIOS update (F7) for this MB. Also I might add that pressing the power button for 4s doesn't do anything when the system is in this state. If it is in Windows, it initiates a shut down and then the system is in the state described above.

If you have any ideas, I'm open to suggestions.

Sounds like some sleep state?   I would try clearing the CMOS for an extended period, then if that does not help flash the latest BIOS and see if that corrects it.

I already tried that.
Fact is: my case has4 fans. When shutting down, the rear fan turns off. The CPU, front, top and side fan are still running.
I tried updating to latest flash but after a few restarts I get the CMOS error and it returns to the F3 BIOS version

Some of the newer PSUs have a run on feature that lets the system continue to cool for several minutes after shutdown before the PSU turns off all power completely. I am not sure if yours comes into this category.

How long did you try to clear the CMOS, and how did you do it?   Sometimes you need to do it for a few hours, with the PSU unplugged from the board or wall, then drain the board with the on/off switch for a bit, then remove the battery and let it sit.

Also all my attemts to update BIOS seem to fail.
Tried from DOS, tried from @BIOS. From DOS it worked until the next reboot, from @BIOS it said updated but when I restarted it said F3 again.

Well from F3 BIOS you do have to use either DOS or @BIOS to update, then once you are updated you can use Qflash from them on.

The above linked thread will help you flash the backup BIOS to the same as the updated main, once you update it, that way when it fails again it wont revert back to F3 anymore.

Yes that is good advice from Lsdmeasap and will save you a lot of time and trouble in the long run.

I tried that, now the main BIOS says it is F3 again.

Is there really no way to update the BIOS normally like on any other board? I'm getting really frustrated...

Did you press F12 more than once?   You can only press it once, otherwise 2-3 times switches booting from MAIN to booting from backup Instead.

Flash it again now with the latest BIOS, then they should both be F7, but not sure if that will flash the main or not?   You may need to just flash it again, then do the ALT + F12 carefully only once.

Yes, once you get through this initial stuff you will be fine and you can flash easily and without hassles using Qflash.

Yes, if you go into the BIOS and on the main screen press F9 it will display both BIOS versions that are stored.

They haven't fixed that yet DM, it only shows one on P67 

You will know if both are flashed because when you use the hotkeys it will tell you it's flashing the backup BIOS, it actually asks you to proceed or not.
