Do I have a problem or not?
My bottom hot swap bay is connected to SATA2_5 (SATA2_0-5 have been set to RAID in the BIOS) but the drive is not being listed under “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media”. It is being shown using the “Intel Rapid Storage Technology” in the Storage System View window of the Status button.
Is this normal or have I not set something in the BIOS correctly?
I was under the impression that AHCI to enable hot swap to work was supposed to function when RAID is selected and therefore show the drive under “Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media” allowing it to be safely removed.
My BIOS Settings are:
eXtreme Hard Drive (XHD) [Disabled]
ICH SATA Control Mode [RAID(XHD)]
SATA Port0-3 Native Mode [Enabled]
eSATA Controller [Enabled]
eSATA Ctrl Mode [AHCI]
GSATA 6_7/IDE Controller [Enabled]
GSATA 6_7/IDE Ctrl Mode [IDE]
GSATA3 RAID Mode Control [Fw Mode]
GSATA3 RAID Configuration [Press Enter]
SATA3 Firmware Selection [Auto]
GSATA 8_9/IDE Controller [Enabled]
GSATA 8_9/IDE Ctrl Mode [AHCI]
On starting my PC the screen shows:

To me it looks as though AHCI is not functioning. Is there a way to set Port-05 to AHCI? Or have I misunderstood something about RAID/AHCI?
Any help to solve this problem or to make me better understand what is happening would be greatly appreciated.
