How to connect front panel PW+RS switches on GA-8I915PMD Mobo
« on: February 25, 2011, 12:01:38 pm »
Hi folks,
I'm mounting this pc with an old MB I had (Gigabyte GA-8I915PMD) but I can't find the manual anywhere.
Does anyone please can help me to connect the front panel switches.
There's a 9 pin socket (1 empty) where none is identified.
Any help ?

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I couldn't bring up any info on the website for this board. If you can post a macro photo of the panel connections on the mobo maybe we can sort them out.

sorry about that, here's a better picture.
Based on some information I found this documentation of a similar one, but when I conected the power conector (to the 2 pins on top right of the picture) it keeps restarting all the time >> PDF here http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/motherboard_manual_ga-8i915p-mf_e.pdf

Well the trouble being that this diagram is for a slightly different board and so it may be differnt pinouts although I would have gambled on them being the same.

Is there somewhere else to connect the speaker/buzzer on your motherboard ?

Try watching this video and then following the same directions.

Are you saying that it is working now but you are having trouble with the installation of Windows ?

If so try clearing the CMOS and formatting the drive first.

yes, I connected the power switch, installed windows and when the after instalation window came, it shows the death screen :) saying that maybe I've installed a driver and to contact support, but the only thing installed is the graphic card, and that was the original card when I buyed the PC.
cleared the CMOS, reinstalling the OS again, back to you later

is anything related to usb ports? the only one used are the ones onboard the motherboard, and one I'm using for the keyboard

It's basically saying the USB driver is corrupted or wrong. Have you tried to install the chipset drivers yet ?

That's what I thought. Ok. The next thing to try is an extended clear the CMOS. Please follow these instructions exactly.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Opimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.
