[GA-X58A-UDR3 rev2] BSODs on Windows 7 never on XP - installation on SSD

Hi all

I am using Windows XP 32 bits on my SSD without any problem. Very stable, never any BSOD. It is installed on AHCI Mode.

I wanted to try Windows 7 64 bits, so I hide my XP partition, and begin clean installation of Seven 64 bits.

I now have on Windows 7 BSODs with ICQL errors and RAM errors, sometimes during installation, sometimes after. Reboots occur regularly, before updating drivers or even after updating all of them. In Windows 7 Safe Mode it seems more stable. I fear that one of the drivers Seven is updating is causing the problem.

When I turn back to XP 32-bits it is working perfectly.

My config
GA-X58A-UDR3 rev 2 - BIOS version FE
Intel i950
Enemax LibertyEco2 650W
G Skill 10600/1333 CL9 3*2Go on slots 1-3-5
Crucial SSD 128 Go
WD 1To EADS
Sapphire Radeon 5770

Any help will be very appriciated.

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte forum.

It could be any number of things to be honest. Just because it runs stably on XP doesn't necessarilly mean that it will find Windows7 as forgiving. Win7 is far more complex and demanding than XP.

All I can suggest is to check everything. I would start with your memory and go from there. Memtest86+ is the aknowledged standard for testing RAM. You can get it here:

Memtest86+   http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 loops and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Thank you for your reply. I will do that.

In fact, I have already done a memtest ( comming from the GParted Live CD ) with all 3 modules inserted without any error.
I will try one module by one on every slot.

I will post back un coming days.
