CPU Temp @ 127Celcius
« on: March 05, 2011, 05:32:27 pm »
Obviously it's not really at 127 celcius but that's what the BIOS says and it's constant it never budges. Problem is because of that it makes my CPU fan rev like crazy!!! - The ET6 utility in windows also reads it at 127c.
All other apps, like RealTemp or Sandra or whatever give me the real temp of 37c

How do I fix this? the CPU temp sensors are obviously working but the motherboard isnt reading it correctly

thanks

Hi

I suspect that you haven't got the latest BIOS version which is needed for ET6 to run properly. Update the BIOS and try again.

I updated the BIOS to FE and I still have the same problem
I have a GA-X58A-UD3R and a I7 950

I can't get it to read anything different then 127.
I'm thinking of hooking my CPU cooler to my case's fan controller. I hate having the CPU cooler always at the highest rev. it's super annoying
Any other ideas?

thanks!

Try uninstalling ET6 and see if that makes any difference, although some of these utilities can be easier to install than get rid of.

Uninstalled sucessfully and double rebooted, still stuck at 127 :(
I tried re-installing and uninstalling all gigabyte drivers and applications and nothing worked.

could the board be bad?

Well I had already considered that but you said your other utilites were giving correct readings and they use the same sensors so that would seem to discount that.

Another thing I was thinking is the applications I have been using give me a PER CORE Temp and not 1 CPU TEMP like the BIOS/ET6 gives.
Not sure if this is a 5th sensor or some kind of average or what not.

I cant' find an app that gives me this "other" cpu temp, this way i could see if that 5th sensor if it exists is bad or if the motherboard is reading it wrong.
If no 5th sensor exists then I have no idea what to do.

But CPU cooler on full blast all day long is driving me nuts

Try installing RealTemp as it is one of the more accurate ones and will give you a good indication of what the temperature really is.

In that case I would trust that and put it down to a misreporting by the BIOS version.  It is possible that you have a fault with your fan anyway. I still wouldn't be surprised if it isn't something to do with ET6.

ET6 shouldn't effect the BIOS readings or the fan speed.

Sounds like a hardware problem, busted sensor maybe. If it was really over 100C you'd think it would shut off automatically.
