P67A-UD3-B3 Rev 1 Memory and Network Controller Problems
« on: April 16, 2011, 09:12:16 am »
I just completed my build and have a few problems.  It took me hours, but I finally got Windows 7 64bit installed by using one stick of memory in slot 3, everytime I tried using both sticks, the install wouldn't finish and if I try to use both sticks now the installation is complete, I get the BSOD with Page Fault in Non Paged Area as one of the messages.

Another problem is I'm getting Realtek Network Controller not found, so I can't install the driver or connect to the net.

My specs are:

Gigabyte P67A-UD3-B3 Rev 1
Intel 2500k @ 4.5g
Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro Rev 2
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Ultra Low Voltage Dual Channel Kit (OCZ3P1600C9ELV4GK)
Corsair 620W PSU
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 Extreme 1024MB GDDR5 GPU
1TB Samsung F3

Windows 7 64 bit

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

Well it sounds like you have a bad stick of memory there as long as you are inserting them in the correct slots ie DDR3_1 and DDR3_3.

I would suggest that you download and run Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Thanks for the reply.

Just after I posted, I ran Memtest, which I should have done in the first place :-[ and one of the sticks came up with 14 errors in the first five minutes, so that's obviously the problem there, so it's RMA time for that.

Should I try another brand of ram, maybe some 1333, to match the cpu?

As for the network controller problem, I'm still stuck.

Good news at least we proved the problem. Personally I am not keen on OCZ memory at the moment as I have seen too many problems with it over the past few months. I would tend to go for Corsair, Crucial or Mushkin as these are premium memory suppliers. Just make sure you get something that is guaranteed t o work with your motherboard . All manufacturers will have a QVL on their website to tell you. I am using the Corsair Vengeance on my board and they are very good.

We can sort out the network problem once you have changed the RAM.
