Hi All,
I've got a OCZ Vertex 2 80GB that while it was working I was getting "S.M.A.R.T. failed" notices during boot up. As long as I saw that message on the boot screen it would still bring up Windows 7 and the computer would operate fine. If I DID NOT see that fail notice (like S.M.A.R.T. initialized properly which was about 10% of the time) the bootup would hang and I got a "failed to load operating system" at the end.
Anyways, that was while it was working. The system totally took a crap about 3 months ago and I'm finally getting around to attempt to get it running again. I am posting to the OCZ forums regarding getting my SSD updated and working again but in doing so I understand that Gigabyte has a BETA BIOS F11d release that should fix my S.M.A.R.T. errors during boot up.
Even though the OCZ forum has the links to the F11d BIOS download I still have sveral questions I wanted to post here:
1. The OCZ forum was a bit vague on whether the BETA F11d BIOS update was for my Revision 1.0 Board and I'd like it confirmed here
2. I was wondering why Gigabyte hasn't made a F11 BIOS update on their GA-EP45-UD3P rev. 1.0 Downloads page by now since it's been almost a year since the BETA version came out.
3. Is there an English link to the Beta BIOS update? I think one of the ones I saw was in German so I'm hoping to have an english link to it thru this forum.
4. I'm hoping to gather a bit more info about this problem from the Gigabyte point of view so any extra info posters on this forum have about this S.M.A.R.T./Sandforce conflict would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Randy
