Major problem with Gigabyte MA790GPT-UD3H never seen this happen with any comput

Well I have problem that I have never seen. I been a tech for 28 years.

I turned my computer off night before was running great. Then all this happened. I have had this computer since 10/2009.

So here we go, I turned the computer on and it just sat at the boot screen for almost 10 min before it went to Windows 7
so I restarted the computer and it took 5min to get it to go to the bios.So I shut it down and reset the bios with jumper with power unplugged.
So I tried to boot again and I decided to look in the case while its booting and to find all my lights from my Power supply fan and my CPU fan was really dim and the CPU fan went to slow motion and almost stopped. So I shut it down and unplugged everything took video card out. And it did same thing. Major voltage draw.So I ordered the same PSU I had from Newegg got it in one day. Plugged it in and the same thing happened. Never seen anything draw so much power  like this. I am waiting on a RMA #.
Also just a single beep like everything was perfect. Weird stuff
I hope I didn't burn the CPU up.

Its all apart the motherboard is in a static bag and in the origanal box it came in ready to ship.

My system was all built 10/2009 and has ran great with no blue screen  or errors at all running Windows 7 64bit

Hi

I would have gone for the PSU as well but as it was obviously not that it does sound like the board has gone bad. Did you try it with alll the drives unplugged ?

Hi there,

not come across this problem before and it seems strange that the Mobo is emitting a single beep as if everything is OK. If I were faced with this problem I would probably strip everything out except CPU and one RAM module, just to see what happens as I would not be thinking it was a mobo fault but a problem with another component.

Sounds strange but have you also checked that your Mouse and Keyboard are still fine? Encountered a similar problem once before and it was down to the mouse of all things!

Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Well I decided to put the processor back in and try it again just with memmmory and power supply and nothing else plugged in. I hooked a lcd up to see what was going on. Well it posted super fast. So I added another memmory chip and it worked. So I kept on adding one thing at a time until I found whats causing a draw or the isuue. I ended up having everything plugged back in and it was running super good.
Well I guess I booted the computer with the Gigabyte self healing  disk in the dvd drive. Because its running good all back together and doing some major gamming. Im glad it fixed itself because Gigabyte you never did send me a RMA # after I called you and I also signed up for a RMA # .i think God helped me because Gigabyte would never. Il tell you what I will not buy another GIGABYTE board again.Thats bulls*** you can't send someone a RMA .
iI just called Newegg and got my restocking fee waived and a UPS shipping tag sent to me by email instant.Im sending back the other power supply I bought to test this out. Newegg rocks less than 10 minutes I am taken care of.Gigabyte you can go to h***.    Bad business you do.I should of had a RMA when I talked to you on the phone.

The guys that came in and helped. Thanks

I would of not done this testing again. I tested everything the other day with 2 power supplies. Like I said I really think God helped me. I was getting really mad having to wait for a RMA.

I am glad that you managed to get it fixed with or without divine intervention. You will probably find that you will get a RMA from Gigabyte sometime soon but they do not always act as fast as they could. To be fair though the recognised way of obtaining an RMA is to contact your retailer, in your case NewEgg.

I did call Newegg first. They said that its been over a year and I would need to contact Gigabyte. I called and talked to a Tech from Gigabyte and told him what the problem was.He should of got me a RMA # then.

I like Gigabyte motherboards they are great. I just think the customer support should be better.

It is something that we hear all the time but to be fair to Gigabyte I don't suppose all the satisfied customers come onto the forum and congratulate them. However this is one of the main reasons why we feel that the forum is so important and needs constant manning.
