Hey! That's some nice numbers Allan. Just wonder what a bit of tweaking can do ? I know they are fast drives but that is certainly better than I expected as an initial run.

Need some help here still,I come across many little issues , most I resolve (trial/error) one thats been bugging me for some time is getting the board to consistently boot from CD when required rather then several messages including "non system disc........press any key to boot from floppy" ......no floppy, not installed in bios .... tried setting revo x2 or any drive for that matter to IDE / ACHI / RAID...........any ideas DM ?....... theres a couple of question for you today but we 'll start with this one.

Hi Allan

It sounds to me like the BIOS just can't find the boot drive. Now that could be that it just isn't recognising it as in if you change the mode ie IDE to AHCI or it doesn't know where to look for it. The mode must be set to whatever you had it as when you installed Windows.

Make sure thet in the BIOS the floppy is set to "None", the boot sequence and boot priority are both showing your boot drive as the primary drive.

Yup!... that's what I did ... as an example ... Formatted Revo.......  floppy.... none....Primary in order....first boot device ... F12 for boot of CD/DVD ... still pushes through to "please press any key to boot from floppy"............does the same with clean, formatted magnetic drives, Can't figure what's changed, It's gotta be Pilot error!

I always leave the BIOS 1, 2, 4 boot order set to HDD, None, None - then use F12 at bootup to choose CD or USB if I need to.

That might help you with your CD booting issues.

Yes I agree with Lsdmeasap's way of doing things here as it is faster to use the HDD as the Primary boot device and not have the optical drive on there  and just access it via F12 if and when you need to.

Found it!!!........Didn't use enough Brasso!.... there's only about 13,000 different combination in bios, so after trying all of them twice I new something was dodgy in Denmark, after trying a USB-DVD with the 64-bit install disc with the same result, I smelt a rat........the 32-bit disc fired up.

Was able to polish the damaged disc enough to get another install out of it or two, but I think it's toast, lots of little micro-fissures everywhere across the disc.

Does anyone out there have the low-down on generating another legitimate copy (DVD) from Bill through official channels or knows of another method to replace my  install disc (Windows Ultimate 64-bit) .........Would you be so kind ??.....If you need the Activation key, it's A45F-22CX- only joking!

You can download any retail or MSDN copy, as long as you use your own key this is perfectly legitimate.   Just google Retail, RTM, or MSDN x64 Windows 7 torrent and you will find it.
