1:2 FSB Advice

Hello All. I recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-G41M-Combo (rev. 1.3) System BIOS Date 06/09/10, 4GB kit (2GBx2), DDR3 PC3-10600 • CL=9 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1333 • 1.5V • 256Meg x 64 • Crucial memory, Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8300 (4M Cache, 2.50 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB), EVGA GeForce GTS 450 FPB and a OCZ StealthXstream 2 500W PSU on a Win XP sp3 32bit ops. I've been an AMD single core user for years so i'm not familiar with the Bios settings using a quad core DDR3 1333 Memory combination. I have read many post but haven't found a good answer to my question thus far. My question is, in my Bios, I have the Mch Latch set to Auto and my memory Multiplier at 4.00A. CPUZ shows  a 1:2  FSB ratio. Is this okay? Will I create another Chernobyl disaster?  Should I choose another combination? When I  Load Optimized Defualts and reboot, the system doesn't seem to have near the giddy up it does when i load the settings previously mentioned. I also heard some overclockers  obtaining a 350 OC + on a G41 chipset. I this possible? Any input or advise would be greatly appreciated.

1:2 is fine, certain benchmarks do slightly better with different ratios. It just means your ram is running twice as quick as fsb.

If you're happy the the performance of the machine then just leave it as it is

Thanks for your reply but I do have another question. I'm not sure if this is an issue or not but, when i boot my machine, it shuts down for a sec. or two then boots right up. I don't see anything that would create this issue in the Bios settings. It just doesn't seem normal. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again

The multi boot is normally an Intel glitch that is brought on by overclocking. I can't say what exactly causes it but it is quite common.

Ive had a similar thing on an old asus motherboard, never found the casue of it. The machine would memtest/prime95/3dmark for 24hours. So pretty much 100% stable. I updated BIOS + tweaked voltages etc, but still to no avail.

If everything is running okay (apart from it starting up 2nd time) I would be tempted to leave it

Yeah, I've read where it's perfectly normal for a Gigabyte board to perform a quick double boot when overclocking. Again, thank you for getting back with me in such short notice.
