2 Frustrating Problems With P67A-UD3-B3 Board
« on: May 03, 2011, 03:44:04 am »
Hi,

First time poster but long time customer of Gigabyte!

I've been a fan of gigabyte for sometime as I found my last ds3 board was rock solid and i loved the bios features.  On my new build I decided to stay with them for my motherboard and in fact also but a gigabyte 6950 2gb also to complement the upgrade. talk about loyalty!

i am now experiencing 2 very frustrating and annoying issues.

1. i have a vertex2 120gb from my last system that i secured erase and reinstalled win 7 64 with latest intel rst and 1.33 firm for the ssd.  on the last system i used to get the advertised speeds through ATTO of 285/275 (r/w)

after all drivers and updates done, after swithing from sata2 ports to sata 3 ports, from swithching between msachi and iastor drivers i still get the same drop accross the board for max writes.  ATTO now shows 285/200.  here is a link to a support thread from OCZ with no luck in finding why my speed dropped: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?87843-Vertex-2-Writes-Slowed-Down!

is this a normal for the p67a-ud3-b3 board to perform with vertex 2?

2. the second problem i am experiencing is i cant get any games to play in dolby digital.  my yamaha amp is connected via the optical cables and all drivers for the realtek are installed.  audio plays fine from movies and media in dolby digital but games like dead space 2 even though set in the options as 5.1 play in stereo. is this a motherboard issue? do i need to buy a soundcard to get games playn gin dolby digital 5.1?

i appreciate any inpute and thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

I can't say I have found any issue regarding the P67 boards and SSDs. I haven't noticed any reports of problems on the forum. You say it is a problem, with the board but the figures you showed were roughly what I would have expected to see although a little lower and your previous ones seemed too close to each other. Maybe the previous system was reporting them wrongly.

I am sure that your games should be playable in HD sound if they are coded for it. It sounds like the settings are not correct most likely.
