P67A won't load OS
« on: May 03, 2011, 06:09:33 pm »
Hi,

I've had a P67A-UD4 for about 3 or 4 months and working well. Recently(but not always) during boot up I been stuck on the splash/menu page that you see when you first power up. It won't get past it to load the OS.

Only way around it is to press Del, go into the bios set up and exit w/o saving and that prompts the OS to start loading.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Bios version is factory original. Haven't flashed yet because of all the problems I kept reading about at first.

Any info you share is much appreciated.

Hi

A bit more information would be useful first like what revision is your board ?

What have you got attached to it ?

What PSU is supplying the power ?

What BIOS version is it at the moment ?

Sounds like you have a B2 board, you should RMA that for a B3 board as soon as possible!

Yes I would agree. In case you don't realize there was a problem with an Intel chip on the first run of boards and they were recalled. Contact your retailer for a replacement. ;)

Thank you guys, but I thought the problem with the B2 boards was related to the SATA2 connectors on the MB. I have my HDD plugged into the SATA3 plug.

I wasn't planning to RMA. But if you think this is the cause, then I guess I have nothing to loose by getting a replacement MB.

It may or may not be directly related to the SATA2 Cougar Point problem but I think you should get your board swapped anyway first.
