GA-MA770-UD3 and LSI 9240-8i / IBM M1015 controller

I'm having problems getting this card to work in my motherboard.
I get the message "no physical memory is available at the location required for the windows boot manager" when trying to boot.
The PC has a PCI gfx card and the controller in the PCIe x16 slot.
Windows 7 was installed (and working) prior to installing the controller.

I have read several places that it's a know problem with Gigabyte motherboards and that people have solve it with a beta BIOS from Gigabyte.

Any ideas / solutions ?

I have a same problem with LSI 9240-8i & GA-MA790FXT-UD5P , tried every possible solution, last beta bios F8M is from 2010/11/10 and I feel like using abandonware.  I read that few other mainboard manufacturesrs got similar problem and they say the bios rom is too small to modify it to work properly with LSI and other PCI-Ex8 Raid cards. Mybe they say truth but my mobo bios is 1024kb where 300-400kb is wasted for useless start bios logo !!!

It is really impossible to implement correctly or this is just an excuse ? I have 2 options right now :

1. Buy new AM3+ mobo, that will be verified to work with LSI card and I'm sure it will not be Gigabyte mobo famous for the lack of compatibility with Raid cards, Asus works most of the time and MSI almost always works for sure.

2. Sell this card and stay with limited 6x AMD SATA ports - 4 x JM322 ports are useless to me, Raid0 is slow and problematic on this ports (capped to 150mb), useless for DVD, BD-ROM.

I think that the problem is with no enough space OPTION ROM

This problem exist with many motherboards with RAID add-on cards ( Adaptec , HighPoint , ... ) , that is not specific to your motherboard

Solution : remove for motherboard all ports unused no RAID ( if  you use not ) also IDE and not AHCI mode if that is possible

For the LSI card if you use not for booting use LSI BIOS / tool for remove BIOS at startup CTRL H for start Web configuration ( read the user guide  )

I did it already few times , removing all cards, usb devices, disabling almost all in bios, disabling my 2 raid0 on AMD ports, IDE on 5/6 port, disabling LSI bios, even disabling 5-6 pins in PCI-E port which sometimes works for some perc raid cards http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/storage/13405-ssd-raid0-comparison-arc-1220-perc5-i-ich10r-2.html#post136307

"No physical memory is available at the location required to load the Windows Boot Manager. The system can not continue." no matter from which controller AMD , JM322 or LSI I try to boot.

This cards works without problem on some old C2D Intel board, even boots from the HDD connected to LSI. I did not found any evidence in the web that my mobo works correctly with LSI, lucky that it is recognised ont bios start.

I have tested my setup with all devices disbled without PCI-E graphic card, but with old PCI S3 Virge/DX instead without any luck.

Today just tested this LSI card on brand new rig which I am assemblying for some customer - GA-MA78LMT-US2H which has built-in radeon chipset and free PCI-E slot  Tried every possible combinations, ports disabled, LSI boot disable and all I see is "No physical memory is available  ..." same as on my own hardware.

What else can be done beside replacement of my mainboard, is a bios correction even possiible to eliminate this problem ?  Even if had to edit this bios myself, not a big problem if that can be done.
BTW this mainboard also do not work with all booting USB sticks, some are recognised correctly in bios but not start as it should. USB sticks are correctly made as more than dozens other mainboards work with it without problem. http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,5100.0.html

Now I'm only sure that many Gigabyte mainboards shares some common specific problems, which are ignored or impossible to fix.

Thanx but this value is deselected in my w7 and I don't understand what is the relation of this value with booting of any other systems (W7 installation disc, USB booting linux tools) which should boot no matter how w7 installed system is configured. It's hardware problem, not software.

No you are quite right it would only affect the Windows7 installation not anything else.

Bios update was the first thing I've done and as in my firrst post I know that some other boards have this problem too, but it's safe to say that LSI card and many other raid cards just often do not work with Gigabyte boards, there's sometimes problem with Asus and almost always works with MSI. This simple conclution was made reading all the possible topics connected with raid cards for a few weeks. When I buy a high end mobo I expect that it will work for few years without problems and bios updates should eliminate some of it, other monufacturers can do this so why not Gigabyte. MSI even released bios to work properly work with OCZ RevoDrive PCI-E SSD card http://pl.msi.com/product/mb/890GXM-G65.html#Download had similar problem so why not, Gigabyte. Who needs dual bios if first one is made incorrectly ?

Of course, I'm not a newbie I'm IT Technician.

I understand thats hard to help not having this raid card, but believe me , I tried already everything and spend for this problem dozens of hours. Last hope is modify bios some way, if this is impossible for some space rom limit than goodbye Gigabyte once for all.

Have you contacted GGTS and made them aware of this problem ? Sometimes they can even modify a BIOS to help out.
