Gigabyte G41M-Combo and Windows 7

This post was similar http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,3326.0.html but it was 3 months ago and not quite the same.  I just installed the G41M-Combo (not sure if GA41 is same) and it won't boot into Windows 7 (32 bit Home Premium) just a momentary BSOD that I can't catch.  XP is installed on a separate HDD in dual boot configuration and loads without problems.

CPU Intel Core 2 DUO E8400 3.00 GHz
2x Corsair CM2X2048 - 8500C5D 1066MHz 5-5-5-15  2.1Volts (bios set 5-5-5-18 1.8 V so I am thinking the problem might be here)
Gigabyte 9600 GT VGA Card
1x500 Gb HDD (preinstalled)
1x 1Tb HDD (preinstalled)
BIOS set to Optimized

As I say I suspect it is the BIOS settings for the RAM but I am not sure of the consequences if I simply change those two values or if I need to change something else.  I used Memtest 86+ from a USB Boot to test the memory and it passed all tests.

Hi,

Well if the figures you gave came from the modules themselves

8500C5D 1066MHz 5-5-5-15  2.1Volts

then that is what you can set them to in the BIOS.

If that doesn't help try geting the stop code off the BSOD. You can get this from the error file dump.

Could I get to that Dump File from somewhere on the drive that runs Windows 7 while I am in XP OS

Yes the files should be available from the other OS as long as it can read the file system.

I changed the values in BIOS but still cannot load Win 7.   I don't have a minidump folder in the Windows folder of the Win 7 installation so I created one.  Hopefully it will save a file.  THe BSOD is too quick for me to catch and pause the screen.  Thanks for your help.

Are you sure thta the memory is compatible with the motherboard ?

Try just one module in the first slot and see if that makes any dfference.

Memory compatibility comes straight out of the Gigabyte info sheets.  I'll try two 1024's of same recommended memory I have on another machine running a Gigabyte GA-EP-43-US3L and I'll try the single stick as suggested and report back.  Can't see the use of 1 stick of 2048 though.  That's just wasted space.  It says on the MB box 1066 OC so I wonder do they mean a lower freq RAM overclocked to 1066.  These are straight out 1066 MHz.

The speed should be fine. I meant only for testing purposes to try the single module in the first slot.
