Hi,

I have a Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 (http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3439#ov) motherboard and am trying to run a set of F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL (ripjaws - these were the from recommended list on gskill memory selector and state they are compatible - http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=233 ) but I can not get the pair to pass in memtester x86 V4.20 CD on COLD BOOT.  :-[  :-[  :-[

When ever I cold boot to test the ram it fails withing 3-5 mins usually around test 3.

My install process was as follows. inset ram insure both sticks in correct slots DDR3_1 and DDR3_3 (both white slots) and are seated perfectly etc.

Opened BIOS and tried running AUTO on everything then tried manual setting everything eg 9-9-9-24 and 1.5V both options returned the same results. PLEASE SEE SCREEN SHOTS LINK TO CONFIRM THESE ARE CORRECT I BELIEVE THEY ARE.

Windows 7 memory tester (via F8 on boot up) found no issues both times around on cold or warm boot.

FYI when in windows 7 and playing say 1hr of Grand Theft Auto IV I dont have any bluescreens or anything... yet....

See link below for screen shots of all settings, errors and issues etc:

System Config is:
Intel Core™ i5-750

EVGA GeForce GTX 560 Ti 1GB SuperClocked
Corsair Professional Series™ HX850 — 80 PLUS® Silver Certified PSU
1x SATA2 Patriot Inferno 60 SSD HDD (OS)
1x SATA2 WD Carvier Blue 7200 RPM 500GB HDD (APPS ETC)
1x Sony SATA Opartic DVDRW
1x Benq 21.5" 1080P G2222HDH Monitor
OS: Windows 7 Professional 64BIT

Please help me because I really need to know my system is stable and dependable with your RAM etc.

thanks

Hi

Are you running the modules singly to test them as suggested ?

Generally if Memtest  fails the RAM then it is faulty.

Your Uncpore and Memory multipliers are incorrect.  The Uncore should be twice the memory or twice + two maximum.

yeah i have tested each at a time and they pass
also note ive tried 4 different brands and models this week and in sets could not get them to pass memtest even thought they test fine on each stick

ive seen a lot of posts about my board doing the same thing for many but no one had solutions here in australia

i never set my "Unicore" and memory multiples that was done by bios its on AUTO

can you please tell me the correct values everything should be? I would like good performance but not keen on overclocking anything. Im very inexperiance when it come to overclocking etc :(

Well you could try manually putting in the timings of 9-9-9-24 and voltage of 1.5v

The memory multiplier should be set to 8x and the Uncore multiplier should be set to 16(to 18)

You may need to play around with your QPI/Vtt setting as well. Somewhere in between 1.15 and 1.35v

When you tested the memory did you do it exactly like this ? :

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.

It takes a long time but will pick up any problems with the module.

I currently have the, manually set on each channel as 9-9-9-24 & 1.5v but it didnt make a difference :(

hmmm doesnt the 8x multipler slow my speed down etc, i thought it should be set to 10?

and Uncore im not sure what you mean by 16(to 18, so do i set it to 17?

i did between and 7-8 passes on each stick on its own over night.

If the sticks passed 7 or 8 passes they should be alright.

Uncore should be between 16 and 18 so 16, 17 or 18 would be alright but you have to see which works best. That is if your memory multiplier is 8.

A memory multiplier of 8 will give you a memory speed of 1066 which is what you said the memory was. If it is capable of running at 1333 Mhz then you could set the Memory multiplier at 10 and the Uncore multiplier would need to be set between 20 and 22.

yeah the sticks state on specs that they are DDR3-1333 (PC3 10666) see link http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=233

so ill set my multiplier to 10x

Set uncore to 21 but where in the BIOS can i do this it doesnt seem to let me :(

It would appear that it is not possible in your BIOS to set the Uncore.

I think it would be worth contacting them again in case something has gone astray, because even though they are not normally fast it wouldn't usually take this long.

If you look in the picture : http://www.flickr.com/photos/62770463@N05/5714671100/in/photostream/  that you posted it is showing there that the Uncore is at 16x which with a memory multiplier of 10 is incorrect. There must be somewhere in the BIOS to change it.

hmm sent another support request now.

the bios there no way possible to change it it just doesnt let you. it seems the uncore is locked :( it seems others also could not unlock it.

the only way I can think of getting the ratio to work is for me to drop the System Memory Multipler (SPD) to 8 instead of 10 but then i am loosing performance from my RAM etc that I paid to have

I have found the setting. I must have missed it the first time I looked. In the BIOS in the MIT section look under the Advanced Frequency Settings tab and you will see the Uncore there.

yeah I saw that as well but it wont let you set it/change it even if you go and select any others options under "QPI Clock Ratio" it still doesnt allow you to change it :(

You are in the right place then but as you summised you will need to change another setting to allow you to gain access. I don't have the board to try but it won't be far away from there.
