Gigabyte GA-x58-USB3 Screen Ports
« on: May 17, 2011, 07:19:23 am »
Hey,

I just got the Gigabyte GB-x58-USB3 in my new build. I was just about to install Windows 7 (from disc) onto it, so I went to go and get a monitor to plug in so I could see what was going on, I tried to look for a VGA, DVI, HDMI (I have adapters) port on my motherboard but couldn't find one. I do have my graphics card plugged in, and that has it's own DVI and HDMI ports, but I think I have to install the drivers onto the OS before I can use it, so that doesn't work. When I plug the monitor into the graphics card, it says that there's no source.

What should I do?

Gidday.......As far as I'm aware your board does not have on-board graphics and no drivers are required out of the box for it to fire up with your monitor .........Start with the DVI to DVI if your monitor supports, power up for the first time sometimes requires the monitor to be turned on a few seconds after powering up the PC for the monitor to AUTO find a signal, quite often there a button that will allow you to "goes a huntin" for the signal as well...........Drivers will eventually have to be installed but this will be after OS goes on along with your MoBo drivers.....Hope this helps .

Hi and welcome to the Gigabyte Forum.

The BIOS will provide the basic VGA drivers for the graphics card to work until you have installed the full set and Windows loads. Just plug your monitor into the DVI port on your GPU and it should work no problem. ;)

It doesn't work at all, all it says it no source on the screen. What should I do? Is it a screen issue?

Your monitor isn't one of those that supports two inputs is it ? If so make sure that the right one is selected.

Just to isolate the monitor, try firing up a laptop or another PC with the monitor attached......one more out of the equation......better yet make sure the port and cable you use (DVI, or other) is the one your having trouble with.

I have just tried that, and everything works perfectly. I think it's a problem with my graphics card.

It should be plug and play to at least the BIOS screen,.......If your using the same monitor, cable, and there,s no continuous BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!
I think you may have a RMA in he house :o......What do you think DM........Very last attempt....... do you have a mate that could put it in a slot on his/her machine to be absolutely positive.

UPDATE   I had one other thought doing the school bomb run........To make certain there's no pilot error.......in BIOS there's a field for your PC to look for when booting ....PCI is default, you can populate with that or PCI-1 (Slot one)x16 ect.......have you changed ??  if not try imputing the exact port !!!

Well things to check first.

Make sure that you have the power cables to the card.

Make sure that the connector to the monitor isn't an adapter cable.

Have you got a buzzer installed ?

What cable and port are you trying to use ?

A buzzer is what has taken the place of the old internal speaker that used to be connected to motherboards so that you can hear the BIOS beeps. It is  a small solid state device that connects to the SPKR header pins on the F_PANEL connectors on the bottom right hand side of the motherboard.

They are extremely cheap about a £1 and available from most computer parts stores etc. They can save an awful lot of time and wasted energy when faultfinding as well as letting you know that everything is right during normal operation.
