Hi All,
Back to Gigabyte, after the last couple of boards failed just days after the warranty, I was a bit disappointed, so I went Asus. But now I am back with the Z68 series boards.
I do have one gripe with this new Gigabyte board, that is the rear I/O shield. It is so flimsy and the little prongs dont even touch the ports and the slots do not properly align, leaving gaps and the bit that goes between the port is not even metal, just the decorative plastic.
For peace sake, Gigabyte could have done a better job than that, follow asus, they they have metalic foam cacking which makes it air tight as well.
Having paid £160 for this board, I expected top notch...sorry, rant over, just had to get it out of my chest, now can someone give me some quidance on the overclocking please.
I can set it to 4.5GHz and it will run fine with prime95, no crashes what so ever...until I turn power off at the socket and cold boot. It keeps rebooting itself, after the first reboot a message comes up saying a problem occured due to overclocking, then it goes in a continues loop. I then have to reset the bios by shorting the pins.
I then tried to lower the speed, thinking maybe its too high, but 4.4, 4.3, 4.2, 3.8, they all have the same symptom, when I cold boot. worm reboots are fine no problems, just when I turn off the power at wall socket.
The only thing that I am changing is the Multiplier and the memory is set to XMP profile in 'normal' mode.
Do I need to change anything else?
Thanks in advance.
