GA-P55A-UDP3 v1.o Slow Boot/Bios Issues

I upgraded the BIOS from F4 to F14 and began to have issues. When I shut down the system either through Windows 7 or start up the system from the power button on the front of the cabinet, the system is extremely slow and wont let me go into the MIT portion of the BIOS. BUT when i unplug it completely or turn the power switch off on the back of the pc at power supply, then turn on and power up using the front panel "on" switch, it boots fast and allows me into the MIT. BUT then if I then again reboot without a complete power down (removing the power cord or switching off the back of the PC) I cannot get into the MIT and the system is real slow.

I got an RMA from Gigabyte, sent the board to them. Got it back with the same issue with BIOS VF14. VERY DISAPPOINTED. However, reading through endless internet forum threads i found  that someone else downgraded back to F9 and their problems disappeared.  I did that and I can now get into the MIT portion of the BIOS as expected.

I am concerned that the newer BIOSes have issues and am not getting the benefit of some of the improvements that are claimed. 

I would appreciate some feedback on this issue.

Hi

Well by the sound of things you did make at least one mistake when you updated the BIOS. If you went directly from the F4 BIOS version to the F14 that is too much in one step and you should have taken at least 3 or more steps to be safe. Also I don't know how you did the update but if you used @BIOS program thewn that is another risky business and I would advise using the QFlash BIOS utility. It is much safer and less likely to produce errors or even brick your motherboard.

Yes i used the QFlash utility but am surprised that you have to step through BIOS updates.   What do you suggest is the resolution to this issue?

Well normally I would just say leave it as it is if everthing is working alright but you do have problems so it might be as well to flash it back to the original version and then update it again in increments. If you do this and are still having problems at least we can rule out the BIOS update.

Could this in any way be related to memory?  i am using Crucial Memory?

Normally Crucial memory is one of the better makes and so I wouldn't expect it to cause problems as long as the installed sticks are compatible with the board. If you want to be sure you can follow these instructions:

I would suggest that you download and run the latest version of  Memtest86+ to check your RAM first.

Memtest86+        http://www.memtest.org/

Insert one stick of memory in slot 1 and run Memtest on it for at least 10 complete loops/cycles and if there are no errors then swap it over with the next one and continue untill you have checked all  modules.
 
If you have any errors the module is faulty.

If you have any faulty modules you will have to return the whole kit as they are matched.

Post back when you have done that with the results.

Memory is good. it seems like the MB is gone bad since all works well at BIOS F9 but anything above that and it slows to a crawl and you cannot get into the M.I.T portion of the BIOS. thoughts?

If that is the case why update to beyond F9 ? Maybe the newer BIOS is still a bit buggy.
