I have the above board for the last two+ years and it was perfectly stable but this week it has started to crash at random times. Sometimes it will boot fine into win7 and stay stable for up to an hour before crashing. I recently added a new hdd and thought that might be the issue so I disconnected it but problem still remains
Then I stripped out all Hdds except the boot drive, disconnected the optical drive and just tried to boot it up with the basics attached, got as far as the screen where you can select to boot in safe mode from a list of three options but it crashed before I could choose one. Removed one stick of ram, booted and crashed and did the same with the other stick and it crashed again.
Finally I decided to reinstall win7 so booted from the (now reconnected) optical drive but while it was loading files from the disk it crashed again. I booted it with the side of the case off and saw that case fans and CPU fan were working.
When it crashes there is no message or blue screen, the crash is like someone pulling the plug out of the wall. I suspect the mb has failed in some unknown area but if anyone can offer any advice before I go and buy a new one I would appreciate it
