Simultaneous use of 4 on-board Mobo ports in Win 7

Simultaneous use of 4 on-board Mobo ports in Win 7
« on: June 10, 2011, 07:52:27 pm »
I need to run 4 monitors simultaneously in windows 7 (don't care about only 1 at boot time.) Motherboard GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 as well as GA-H67MA-UD2H-B3 both show 4 on-board video ports VGA, DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort. Once in Windows can I have active video out on all 4 of these on-board ports simultaneously in windows 7. Previous GA H55 boards certainly allow dual monitor use, so I assume I could use all 4 ports simultaneously on the newer boards mentioned. But can I ?   and if not, and I need to add a PCI express video card to the motherboard, does this force all on-board video ports to become non-functional ?  Greatly appreciate any authoritative reply..

Most modern graphics cards will support running three outputs at once as long as they are compatible. I don't think that you wil be able to run four at one time though off one single GPU.

yup! from what I know ... 2 video cards with dual ports will be required, ... you may have to look at the operating system as well, I remember reading only the higher versions support 4 monitors and up but check.

  Best options yet.........Take your pick!

Pierre, was just thinking of you............ When flashing this *&$***(&..... Rocketraid 640 card, ...does it matter that the board is set to IDE or ACHI ?

Ive finally Generated a working DOS boot disc with the Flash utility and drivers on the same partition....not 15 minutes ago I went right to the end of the flash procedure........only for DOS to now tell me in the final few seconds  "No supporting host adaptor found"   AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

   Currently set to IDE

   Any ideas!

For my 3 * RR622 HighPoint cards i have not see AHCI or IDE mode only RAID driver ??

For flash the cards i have no  problem with load , you can also use Windows Flash Program ( HPTFlash if i remember ) but can flash only the first 64k

rename jpg file to rar ...

Pierre

* for HPTFlash , i use only for flash new parameters and not FirmWare

* For HPT Firmware exist an incompatibility for Abort BIOS ( same key as Gigabyte BIOS , i have hacked HighPoint Firmware with another key i use key H and not END !! )
I have also modified the HighPoint  msg at bottom screen similar to this : press key H for abort ... , useful if no harddisks are connected ) !!
