CPU-Z only shows 2 cores?

I opened CPU-Z to check on my I7-875K power saving function but it only shows 2 cores and 4 threads.
Then opened up another temperature monitoring program, RealTemp and it only showed temperatures for 2 cores.
Went into BIOS and found the temperatures for all 4 cores so that was good.

Also in BIOS I have all cores enabled, but before I remember there being 4 cores and 8 threads in CPU-Z.

How can I check if all my cores are working?

Remove the CPU Cooler and look the Intel number

Windows can also identify the CPU :

--> Panel Config you have the CPU number ... Intel Core xxxx

or

--> devmgmt.msc --> Processor --> xxx * processors yyy zzz to abcd speed

For me i have :

--> Panel Config  i have  ... Intel Core i7 CPU

and :

--> devmgmt.msc --> Processor --> 8 * processors i7 CPU 930 to 2.80 Ghz

also simple : Windows Taskmgr --> Performance and --> i have 8 proccess  with my I7-930

With Open HardWare Monitor find 4 * CPU Cores

Only 2 show up. My windows performance score went way down.
I don't over clock by the way.

I could try that.
I did flash it awhile back then used optimized defaults before tweeking. Could have gotten corrupted I guess.

Problem is resolved. I went into msconfig under the general tab, and used the first radio button "Normal startup".

A few days ago I read an article to speed up the boot time. One item was to use 4 processers instead of one, another was to skip the loading of the GUI splash screen. There may have been another.
Also I've been cutting down on startup services so I put those back.

Now I have 4 processes in CPU-Z and my windows performance scores are high again.
One other point, I had ram with a special profile to run at 1600 Mhz. I left that at the BIOS default and the windows assesment scores for memory went unchanged even though running at 1333 Mhz with looser timings.

Thanks for the input F5BJR as I wouldn't have found out without reinstalling the BIOS and looking at things there.
