Northbridge - Please help!

Hi, i have a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard, with a Phenom 550 running at 3.7Ghz.
The problem is that everytime i try to raise the northbridge over 2000 i get a post error and the entire bio reverts back to stock settings!
Strangley this only happens from a cold boot. If i cold boot and the post error comes up, if i hit the restart it will post fine and run ok. But its just annoying knowing something isnt right.
Any ideas?

Not expierienced with overclocking AMD at all if i'm being honest...but have you tried raising the northbridge volts at all?

Yeah already tried but no luck.
Just strange it only happens from cold boot

When it restarts is it still running at the speed you set it at? Or does it reset to defaults. If it keeps the 2000 speed, does it go into windows? Is it stable etc?

When i set the northbridge at anything above 2000 using the multiplyers it will boot into window fine, run benchmarks, stress test, play games, all totally stable. When i restart it is fine, all the settings hold. The problem is when i shut down the system completely. Then when i start up i get a POST error saying frequencies have been reset, and the system loads into windows with all the CPU/Northbridge frequencies at stock settings.

Is it latest BIOS revision? Have you tried running a memtest available from http://www.memtest.org/. If there is any problems with the NB this should throw it up.

Yeah tried that all too, aswell as reverting back to older bios versions, nothing seems to work

Hmm strange. Have you tried using the latest version of Gigabytes easy tune software and overclocking that way?

I checked the Easytune software and it doesnt mention the Northbridge anywhere

Is there not a quickboost button(s)? If not you may have to select advanced mode and overclock that way. Just thought it would be worth a try.

Double checked and nothing about the Northbridge. Thanks for all your suggestions so far, much appriciated! This is my first overclock and been working at this problem for ages. I guess it just may be the fact that i have a £70 motherboard and i can push it as far as i would like.

Oh right and there was no quick boost feature to easilly overclock it? Am pretty much out of ideas tbh as like I said have virtually no AMD overclocking expierience  Though hopefully someone else who is more clued up on here will be able to help you out
