Sistem going slower on windows 7 than on XP.
« on: September 02, 2011, 02:50:21 am »
Hi guys, new at this forum.

Mi hard:

GA 870A-UD3
AMD Phenom X6 1090 T
Geforce 550 Ti 1gb
2x2 GB Ram ripjaws gskill 1600.
Western Digital Sata 1TB Green.
700 TopPower PSU

At windows 7 my sistems goes slow, pc games have low fps.
At Windows Xp, everithing responds very good.

could this be related to the Sata drivers recongning in some way? I didnt modify the bios factory config, only at the Ram specs and not much more.

Thx for any help!.

going to another specific question about this.

If i have 2 sata hdd, where do i have to plug them and how has the bios to be configured?

Do i have to download some set of drivers (sata drivers) before or after installing windows 7 for them to work allright?

my sistem stats to do checkdisk till the boot gets errors on the long run.

help plz

thx.

Hi and welcome.

Your first problem is you are running a "Green" hard drive as your boot drive. You need to change it to a fast hard drive for booting and use that one as a data drive instead. These drives are just too slow and keep trying toi power down to save energy.  I take it from your second post that you are planning to add another drive anyway so that will work out fine. Use a SSD if you can afford it if not try a WD"Black" or something like that.

The best thing as far nas where to connect your drives is to use the Southbridge controlled ports, I think they are SATA2_0 and SATA2_1 for your boot drive and data drive. You can set them to AHCI mode as long as you do it before installing the OS.

Ok, can i check from windows how is mi BIOS recogning my Hard Drives?, this way i can post a log message and have a acurate answer from the staff here. Do you think this is related to my slow performance on windows 7? why isnt happening on XP?

thx.

They are both made by Micro$oft  ???

Sorry, all joking aside I don't really follow your question here. I guess that you are saying your Windows 7 setup runs much slower than your old Windows XP setup used to. In what way do you mean it runs slower ? The processing, the graphics, the data read/write, booting, etc ?

i can sense it in the graffics and operations.

when i am running windows 7 and play a game is notorius. When i move the mouse with a drag click on desktop is notorious.

when i run for ex, call of duty black ops on xp it works perfect, on seven is laggy whatsoever the config of the graffics.
When i play pes2011, xp is perfect. On 7, it runs kinda good and suddenly it freeze and catchs up in a flashforward motion, like normal game... freeeze 1 seg flash forward, normal game.

Well it's not exactly a top of the range graphics card but it certainly should handle most things alright. Maybe a bit of struggling on some of the heavier games  if they are on high settings but apart from that it shouldn't have problems. Have you tried different drivers. I know there have been a few drivers recently for the nvidia cards that have been a bit buggy and not working too well so worth a try.
