I am using gigabyte 990fx-ud7 board and I am trying to setup Corsair Force 3 Gt 90 GB ssds Raid 0. But performance is very bad. I research a lot of forum and see Gigabyte Sata 3 performance is bad. Is that true? I am big Gigabyte fan and I need help about raid 0 setup on SB950.  And also on Gigabyte site, there is old AMD/Chipset driver. Should I install driver from AMD site?

Hi there,

I asked this question of Gigabyte last week and I am still waiting for an answer as the drivers on the download page for this board do not seem to be the correct ones for the Marvell chip. The board has the 9172 Marvell chip and the drivers are for the 9128. I did try them myself, when they were first released but they didn't work and the best advice I can offer is to use the ones on the install disk if you really need to. However, I would not recommend setting up a RAID 0 array on the Marvell ports as the performance is really poor.

I have done a series of tests with RAID0 on this board using standard SATA3 6GB/s HDD and a pair of ADATA S511 SATA3 6GB/s SSD's and the AMD controller returned the best figures. You mioght want to look through this thread: http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,5704.msg45816.html#msg45816 as I go through various options and have posted results from my tests.
