Temperature variation between BIOS and EasyTune hardware monitor

Temperature variation between BIOS and EasyTune hardware monitor
« on: September 04, 2011, 08:56:27 pm »
Hi there,

First post (yey!).

I've got a GA-Z68XP-UD4 board and Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit). I've noticed that while the BIOS hardware monitor has a temp of mid 30's (C), EasyTune Software installed on the operating system reads mid 20's.

I have a Corsair H80 Liquid CPU cooler, perhaps this is the issue?

Any comments appreciated in advance!

Possible BIOS update glitch...........probable Easy Tune code error......nothing to really worry about.....I remember some months back when people were getting a -30c reading ;D........they'll probable nailit in the nest prod update.........you can always download a couple more temp apps....run them......then average out the figures..........let us know which ones the most accurate........

Your BIOS temp figure should be spot on  ;)

Hi Allan,

Thanks for responding from down under so swiftly!

Yes I was expecting a 30's temp, although I was unsure as I'm using water cooling for the first time (only for the CPU, mind) and was partially hopeful for a cooler system...so far the only difference is the noise and the hole it left in my wallet  ;D

Cheers!

Hello Chris,

I compared ET6 CPU Temp reading against my BIOS reading. I also Looked at the CPU Temp readings provided by Core Temp 3.60 and AIDA 64. ET6 appears to be undereading CPU Temp by 6 to 8 deg C depending on which program you compare it to. A variation of 1 to 2 deg C in readings is common.

Get yourself  one or two other Temp monitoring programs and compare their readings

See attachment for example - ET6 - AIDA 64 - Real Temp

Good Luck

Hi TigetLi,

Thank you for your addition, very much appreciated.

Once my finances have stabilised, I'm hoping to get a Corsair Link, which will help a little bit - especially providing a easy visual colour reference should temps rise too excessively. I'll definitely get AIDA, looks like some HQ software indeed.

Thanks again,
Chris
