GA-Z68XP-UD4 - effect on boot up after BIOS update (Observation)

Hi again,

As I've recently updated my own computer (for a change!)and thought I'd be a good boy and get it fully up-to-date. So I downloaded the latest BIOS update (F4F) and applied it via the friendly OS based App, restarted and noticed a big difference in boot speed. So much so that I reverted to the previous release (F3) but that slight lag didn't disappear.

So, as per my usual rule of thumb - update the bios only when something isn't working!

One thing I do think is unnecessary is providing the option to load a program for BIOS updating - what was so difficult about doing it in the BIOS or pre-OS state? Just a surplus facility in my opinion!

Chris,

Beta BIOS are update in BIOS progress not final BIOS release. Use with extreme Caution and only if they offer you something you absolutely require.

Hello again TigetLi  Ah, yes I forgot to mention that it was BETA, I only noticed that afterwards  ...they should really make it more obvious imo!

I would totally agree and myself and others in the know on the forum always advise not using the @BIOS program because there is far more chance of something going wrong as it sits on top of the OS and we all know how flaky that can be at times. The best way to do updates is to use the BIOS utility QFlash.

If you got the BIOS update file from this site then it will be at the stage of almost being ratified as a full version. They do not normally give many problems at this stage. If you still have a problem with it I would suggest flashing over with the Backup BIOS or clearing the CMOS in an extended way.
