GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0) Beta BIOS
« on: September 10, 2011, 06:02:36 pm »
I have been looking into the high Clocking ability lately with some new kit added to the box so of course I want the latest, most stable BIOS available to me....

Has anyone noticed that the last 3 BIOS releases ( FG1, FH1, FH3 ) dating back to the 1st of April are all... still in Beta?

This is the first time I have noticed this to happen....usually when a new Beta is released.....the proceeding Bios will loose it's Beta status and be fully functional.......the Beta's generally don't have the full kit under the bonnet while in Beta.......so do I have to go back 4 generations to FF 2/18/2011 to have a complete package  ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

My guess would be that Gigabyte are losing interest in the BIOS updates of this range as they have much newer weapons in their arsenal. Soon this will be completely overtaken by the socket 2011. I am sure that there will be updates just at a lower level than before. I reckon it's just an oversight regarding the multiple beta versions.

I took a look the other day at bios updates & decided not to risk it. With the errors made on
this board the least they could do is try to make amends. It will probably be an oversight
should I update my other PC not to look at Gigabyte. One thing for sure will join other MOBO
Forums & do a lot more research before I build another one.   ::)

Many moons ago used to go round Computer Fairs. To get a good deal built 3 PCs using
Gigabyte MOBO's, all same spec. My neighbour had one, a friend another & one for myself.
Eventually mine went to friend. He still uses them for Win 98 as he writes DOS progs also
has small electronic business. How things change,  used to buy Panasonic goods. Not
anymore voted with my feet.

Regards tinker.

I don't think that you can condemn a whole range on the basis of one bad board but I would agree that plenty of research and investigation pays dividends if done before a purchase. It seems that gone are the years of being able to trust a brand and now you have to make the buying decision on a purchase by purchase basis.

Time to bring this back out of hiding in hopes they will consolidate the betas into one good fix.  The last good BIOS was released back in February.

I'm not one to test a beta bios and my board is working very well overall with the execption of a fault which I think is related to my RevoDrive 120 SSD.

The fault is Event 41 Kernel Power - The system has rebooted without shutting down first.

After a dozen or so starts Windows will do a diskcheck for errors.

Hi

I am a little confused as to what you are asking for.  :-\

Maybe I'm missing something because when I go to the GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0) download site I see the FF BIOS as a final version and FG1, FH1 and FH3 as BETA version.  I don't see FH4 or FH5 EX58 provided links to.

I'm not familiar with BIOS BETA's but often sound and viseo driver BETA's are not complete so I'm looking for the final version.

Is there a final release beyond FF?

Thanks for the replies!

If the BIOS is uploaded on the UK site then they should be more or less final releases and will be full.

Thanks again, I tried the UK site and even search different models and vintages.  Still no luck, it shows the same choiced that I see on the USA site.

I looked at the BIOS that ex58 linked from fileden.com (fh4,fh5)  Who put those out?  Are they Gigabyte releases for the GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0)?  It seems strange they would have them but not the Gigabyte website.

OK, I searched the FH4, FH5 beta and found them on several websites but since Gigabyte isn't showing them yet I'll just wait it out.  It looks like they're working on them for now.

thanks all,

I could be wrong be I believe that FG1 is actually out of beta even though it still says beta on their web site.
