Will Gigabyte Add Support for U-EFI ? (Not Hybrid EFI)
« on: September 14, 2011, 07:05:32 pm »
Hi Guys,

I wanted to know if Gigabyte will be adding support for U-EFI Bios for the Z68 Line motherboards? I'm not talking about this Hybrid EFI which may be ok, but I was hoping to see UEFI because the boot times are greatly reduced..

So question is, will Gigabyte be providing BIOS updates for their motherboard to support U-EFI Bios?

Hope someone can answer this, thanks for looking..

Appreciate you time :D

Hi and welcome.

I can only tell you what I understand to be the company's stance on this and that is they will be continuing to head towards a full UEFI on their motherboards. I would think that once that is established then there will be revisions for the boards that at present only have the hybrid BIOS/EFI. The BIOS chips have been increased in size to make this possible  since the beginning of the year roughly.
