@soarwitheagles - I hope the prices come down, but that's a big hope, when the i7 2700k cpu arrives. Yes the 1090T is a good CPU but putting it into a 990 FXA MB just doesn't seem right  as they were design for the Bulldozer.

That's some salmon in your profile picture, was it taken a fly or a plug?

This is a computer related forum so I better stop asking questions about fishing!!!! :)

All the best,

Teknology9

Hi again T9!

Yes, installing a 1090t into that MB seems a little like Volkswagen engine into a Porsche frame and body!  I agree with you that it  just doesn't seem right...

Yes, you are right...that is a salmon and I caught it with two red beads, a #2 salmon hook, on a two meter leader with a one ounce lead weight.  It is salmon season right now again and people are catching them left and right now...

Special note: Once salmon enter the fresh water from the ocean, they no longer eat...but they become angry and we catch them after irritating them from the line in their mouth...it's their anger that does them in...

Unfortunately, I broke a bone in my hand, and am presently in a cast, and that makes catching them even more challenging...

Here's a pic of some I caught before I broke the bone...

Enjoy!

No teknology9 that's the bait that Soar is holding up. You should see the size of the fish they are after!  ;D

DM,

You still have the wonderful humor...

I went fishing for a much faster and much more powerful AMD processor but....

Well, you know the BD story..

To make it less painful, I went fishing for mountain trout...

The mountain trout were much easier to catch than a faster, more powerful AMD processor!

And the puffer fish were very similar to the AMD Bulldozer...both are full of hot air!  They both pretend they are real big and real fast, but in reality they are both quite slow!  :P

It's me, Sore

Soar

PS Ok, a quiz for all you history buffs...that pic with me holding the puffer fish that so closely resembles AMD's Bologna Bulldozer was taken 20 meters under the ocean at a place near where the Battle of Leyte Gulf occurred some years ago...

Who can guess the correct answer first?  ??? ??? ???

Sorry to hear about the broken hand but I'm sure it won't stop you for long Soar. Nice pictures of the fish. I have seen a couple of them before but the rest were new. Just ideal for a barbeque afterwards. ;)

Hi Soar,

Those fish look great, I bet they taste nice as well. It reminds me of a holiday I had in Canada a good while back, the fish I caught well.......they.......weren't as big as those. I think the bears took the best ones......well that's my excuse!!!! :)

I better write about matters concerned with PC building otherwise people will say it's turning into a fishing forum. So, at the moment I'm looking for a good Z68 MB to go with a i5 CPU.

Hope your hand mends soon.

Cheers,

T9,

Thanks for the reply...Canadian salmon sounds delicious!

Yes, back to computer talk so DM or Absic do not give us a ticket!

Can you please tell me the difference between the Z68 series MB and the MB I currently use [Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3]?

I have no clue and I was planning on watching carefully for a MB upgrade during Black Friday if I can find a good price.  BTW, my Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 has absolutely horrific reviews at New Egg, and that concerns me...

My Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 has worked fine thus far, but I only turn it on once a week [I am still using my AMD 1055T as my primary rig].  I have not made the time to transfer all pertinent data from the 1055T to the Intel 2500k yet...

BTW, the Intel runs 5-8 degrees cooler at idle...not sure why...can anyone tell me why?

Also, can anyone help me select a nicer MB for my AMD and Intel?

Soar

After reading that link, it appears as if my p67 is just fine and that z68 could be a total waste of time and resources!

That would be my opinion too Soar. The Z68 chipset isn't much different or an upgrade over the P67 at all. I couldn't see any real point in upgrading to the later chipset if you already had the P67 version.

Hi Soar,
Glad it was useful, I'm looking to upgrade but I'm thinking about which way to go, AMD or Intel, that's why I'm sitting tight and observing.

That is often the best way to tackle a dilemma like that teknology9 . It's best to just wait until you are ready to make the jump and by then you should have amassed enough information to make the best choice. Too often people have made their choice too far in advance and by the time they actually make the purchase things have changed.

DM,

Thank you for your good advice again!

I am thinking to remain be happy and content with my present rigs unless I find some totally awesome deals on Black Friday...if I find a killer deal on a UD4, UD5, or UD7, then I may upgrade...

Can anyone tell me Intel's proposed release date on their new chip [the 2011]?

Thanks!
