Z68X-UD3H-B3 won't boot

Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3
Intel i5 2500K
16 GB G.SKILL Sniper DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) (4 x 4GB)
Enermax Galaxy 1000W PSU
NVidia Quadro FX 4800

Just upgraded the motherboard and CPU.  System was working fine.  Came back later to find the system shut down.  Thought it might be in power save mode but multiple reboots gave the same results.

On boot up, the fans turn on for couple seconds.  The CPU fan stops spinning while the case fans and PSU fans continue to spin.  The monitor does not get any input signal and I cannot see if the system is posting.

I get the same results whether using the Nvidia or on-board video.

I can hear the hard drives spinning.  The only lights I can see are the phase LEDs (all lit).

I've taken the motherboard out of the case and put it on cardboard box.  Re-attached various components and I get the same result.

Any idea?

Welcome OneEyedTroll .... ( your not my mother-in-law are you)

Please take no offense with the following.......remove CPU heatsink and fan assembly......check for thermal paste/goop!.....remove CPU and check the LGA nest for bent/distorted/broken pins...... good light and a visual aid will probably be necessary.........Bent pins can look almost like a shadow where there shouldn't be one....... .re-seat CPU C-a-r-e-f-u-l-l-y with firm pressure (1 - 2KGs ) onto the centre of the heat-spreader while locking the Lock arm

Re TIM (thermal paste ) and reassemble .....see if this helps!

Re-applied thermal paste and heatsink/fan.  Still same problem.

Probably fried motherboard.  Going to exchange it tomorrow.

You have remembered to connect up the 8 pin connection near the CPU on the motherboard haven't you ? If so make sure that it is made firmly.
