Hdmi to DVI-adaptor for single-monitor

I'm considering a Z68XP-UD4 and was initially disapointed over the lack of DVI video port for my monitor until I realized I could use a Hdmi-to-DVI adaptor. Will this work as well as if I'd plugged into native DVI? No glitches or lack of either BIOS or OS output? I wont be using discrete graphics, only on-board.

Hi

The only thing that may well happen is that when you first connect your monitor up you will find that there is a black band around the edge of the screen. It only requires adjustment if that is the case as the port thinks that you are plugging in a widescreen TV and it configures itself for that.

I can't think of any othe rproblems you are likely to have.

The HDMI output worked perfectly with my monitors DVI input.
I'm experiencing one issue however, shutdown via OS or powerbutton doesnt work, it seems to get stuck in sone kind of in-between state. In other words I'm forced to use the PSU power switch whenever I want to shut down. Only tried F5 bios so far, will try F6E next.

That's annoying. Try disabling your power saving modes and anything else that you don't use for a start just to try and pin down where the problem is coming from.

Tried bios F6E with no improvement to my issue. All settings I changed were memory XMP profile enable, PCH SATA mode to ACHI and HPET to 64-bit. I'll try to change the power saving settings like you said.

I am not sure, but if you want try it:

Just choose a SPD profile about your  RAM. Instead of choosing XPM profile. Check with CPU-Z. In tab SPD.

Soft-Off by PWR-BTTN
Configures the way to turn off the computer in MS-DOS mode using the power button.

Instant-Off Press the power button and then the system will be turned off instantly. (Default)

Delay 4 Sec. Press and hold the power button for 4 seconds to turn off the system.
If the power button is pressed for less than 4 seconds, the system will enter suspend mode.

Choose Delay 4 sec. (Try it)

Verify if you press 5 sec (Mile-One, Mile-Two,Mile-Tree-Mile-For-Mile-Five), your problem is repeat (reloop)...

Sadly this didn't solve my problem.

Just to be clear what happends when i activate shutdown by OS or case power button is the video output is turn off, HDD are spinned down but the fans are still spinning, very much like sleep mode.

Other things I've tried by now, changing 'ACPI suspend type' to from S3(STR) to S1(POS). Tried bios versions F2 to F6E.

As I mentioned before try disabling all the power saving modes in BIOS and Windows.
