A-X58A-UD5 ver2.0 discontinued?
« on: October 31, 2011, 08:41:55 pm »
Is there somewhere official from Gigabyte where I can see what boards have been discontinued? Hopefully it it is truly just out of stock and not. My memory controller seems to be messing up and I want to upgrade to a 1366 socket board that still has IDE and floppy.

I usually shop at newegg and it shows this motherboard as out of stock with the only option to "AutoNotify". I see the board available at some other less known sites, but I prefer buying from the more popular ones.

Anyone able to help?

Hi

I think that you will find that the X58 boards have been winding down for some time now. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they had stopped production completely. Don't forget within a couple of weeks the new 2011 socket boards with the X79 chipset will be gracing the shelves and they will be the new power platform taking over from the X58 chipset.

I gave up on the X58A UD3R & after it failed  got a refund. Am just rebuilding a new EX58-UD3R that originally had a Memory fault.
Like yourself wanted Floppy & IDE but also use SATA 2/3 & SSD 6gb/s. Don't expect to get SATA 3 from X58 without add on Cards.

Regards tinker.

Availability has been diminishing for some time now......eventually they'll all be gone.....ebay is generally the last of the last with new and sealed product although you can still get a bargain through these outlets.

1st off thanks for the responses.

As for the 2011 socket/X79 boards I tend to not get the 1st revision boards as they are usually plagued with anomalous issues which I don't have patience to deal with. I suppose if I cant find any high end boards with the IDE / Floppy option it would just mean I would have to retire those components sooner than I wanted to. I am sure you would all agree paying 300 to 500 for a already aging chip set isn't the best idea, but if GIGABYTE would just list what boards they stopped restocking it would go a long way toward me making a decision on what is available instead of me pointlessly waiting for a restock that isn't going to happen.

So again, does anyone know how to find out if Gigabyte retired this board, or better yet where a list of officially retired boards are kept?

BTW I haven't done any reading on this yet but will the X79 only be for socket 2011 CPUs? ???

No not entirely but it will be the first iteration of this chipset. There will be another to follow up as far as I know but that will be next year.

You could ask GGTS regarding the EOL of the X58 boards.

Just enter your email address and click on the language of choice.
