If you are stil having problems  the next thing to try is to clear the CMOS.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

I am having similar boot problems with my new GA-Z68XP-UD3P. It is version 1.0 and I now see the latest is version 1.3. What is yours?

Usually boots OK but occasionally boot only gets as far as "Loading operating system...." then the screen goes black, sometimes I hear the starting Windows jingle, sometimes not and disc activity seems to continue. This only happens 1 in 10 or so.  Wonder if this is a graphics problem when switching out of VGA mode used for boot?. I have "always use onboard graphics" enabled in BIOS (F2) and am not using a graphics card. Is it significant that neither of us with problems has a graphics card installed?

Sometimes USB mouse hangs at boot and sometimes PS2 keyboard, sometimes both -rectified by unplugging and plugging in again - a pain.

Another problem is that speaker, which does its single beep for good post, always sounds continuously (definitely continuously and not long beeps) when "Loading Operating System is reached. I have had to unplug it.

Anyone know if these are problems with the version 1.0 board? ???

Hi jkgb,

About USB issues, view this topic:
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,6465.msg50717.html#msg50717
Read my post in the topic.

About Beep code at POST:
See What do the POST beeps from my Motherboard mean and how can I hear them?
http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,2248.0.html

Continuous long beeps: Graphics card not inserted properly

Edit1 : Remember to remove the CF card (Compact Flash), SDCard or other similar device from all peripherals (printer, card reader, USB Hard Disk, USB Key, Hightpoint Rocketraid 620, etc.)
Because the computer can try to boot from these devices.
And because this, you will receive possibly the error message.

if you do not use a USB3 peripheral
Disable USB3 in BIOS. And after remove the driver pack. Thanks AA.

I suppose the OS system is not on USB extension drive...

Just something I wanted to pick up on here, you mustn't plug/unplug a PS2 connection whilst the board is powered otherwise you can very easilly blow the controller. You don't need to add to your problems.  ;)

Thanks for those thoughts. No CDs, USB drives or other cards plugged in. Device Manager entirely happy it seems. OS is on Vertex SSD, processor is i5 2500K get similar problems whether overclocked or not. Once up and running everything is fine even at 4.3GHz running for 30mins plus under Prime 95 only reaches 58C.

Thanks for the warning.

I might try Gigabyte support as I would like to know what the update to rev1.3 was all about

Yeah, I get the same problem. I wonder if it's the network adapter - because it only happens when I've got a lot of torrents on the go or have left the machine on for awhile. I thought it could be temperature, but it's happened when the machine hasn't been running hot.

Oh yeah: My System Model is: Z68XP-D3
