Fanless PC
« on: November 14, 2011, 01:48:50 pm »
Hi friends,

I have a new idea for fanless PC :

Like Heatsink, PSU, Case, etc.

For Heatsink, they are a Thermalright HR-O2 . This is a really pasive.
But now I have a Noctua NH-D14 and a OCZ Vendetta 2. I do not install a fan on HeatSink.
I do not have a problem.

PSU:
Seasonic X-Series Fanless 400W . Is the best passive PSU. But it is not very powerful.

Model: X-460 FANLESS (SS-460FL Active PFC F3)
Tips : add a second X-460 in tower. One for CPU and one Graphic Card. And a second for other Graphic Card.
http://www.silentpcreview.com/Seasonic_X-400_Fanless_PSU

But l have in my home (in the box) Corsair TX950W.
I begin with this PSU.

For Case:
Cooler Master ATCS 840
http://www.coolermaster.com/product.php?product_id=5777
PSU could be mounted on top or bottom for flexible installation or dual PSU configuration

I remove each fan and make a test with a OCCT and other soft. For check a temp.
Maybe add a fan after test.

For new motherboard :
A gigabyte product ... why not  :P

GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3 (rev. 1.3) or

GA-Q67M-D2H-B3 or

GA-X79-UD3 (rev. 1.0)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4050#sp

For CPU :
i3 2105
i5 2500
i5 2500K
or Cpu socket 2011 for X79

For Ram :
Transcend TX2000 KLN-8GK
aXeRam DDR3 2000+MHz Dual Channel Kit (4GBx2, 9-11-9-24, 1.6V)
http://www.transcend-info.com/Press/index.asp?LangNo=0&PrsNo=1643&axn=Detail
or
G.Skill RipjawsX F3-12800 CL9D 4GBXL
http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=349

For SSD:
Crucial M4 Serie

For Graphic Card :
Zotac GTX 560 multiview

Gpu : 820 Ram : 1200

Thanks a lot for comment this topic.

Hi Dark Mantis,  :D

Tanks for comments.  :P

As I said above, I'll start with the psu (TX950W Corsair) and heatsink (Noctua NH-D14) I have already in my home.
But that's great that members, like you particularly  ::), but without excluding anyone, leave their opinions and suggestions.

Especially if I need to change parts after the temperatures and sounds tests.

Interesting read and actually something that was on my mind for a totally different reason recently. I would steer clear of anything that has a metal backing sheet on it though for obvious reasons. The "rubber" foam style of matting seems cool though.

If we are building a PC to be as quiet as possible this might help but, without fans in the system to shift the air would this not also act to retain heat in the PC Case?
Remember, when all else fails a cup of tea and a good swear will often help! It won't solve the problem but it will make you feel better.

Hi Dark Mantis,

Thank you for this comments ... if I give ideas for other projects you have, it makes me happy.

It is not easy to find inexpensive materials and capable also be used for any other purpose.

The acoutic materials for pc is expensive and little pakage. Or is more difficulty for find it in shop.

To prevent loss of materials and money, I prefer not specialized materials.

Hi Absic,  ;)

I'm not saying (thinking)  that there will be no ventilation.
I say as there are tests and that I will see how to ensure that there is the least noise.
The testing will determine which fans will be active and the others I think to remove them.

I will place a thermometer with one external sensor, such as the picture.

Of course, my computer with software give to me a infos about temperature....

I would suggest using the largest slowest fans that you can find. That way they should shift an enormous amount of air whilst turning very slowly and quietly. The 230mm ones that I have got seem to fit the bill well .

Hi Dark Mantis,  ;)

I support this option.
I already have a 200mm fan on the Antec Nine Hundred for the GA-P35-DQ6.
So to follow.

Cool  ;D

Hi Gloup_Gloup

Hi Dark Mantis,  ;)

One question I have is about the use of Xeon processors on the motherboard Z68 ... or Q67M

In practice I question whether it is correct to install a cpu Xeon motherboard on Z68 or Q67M?
I refer to precedent post :  http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/index.php/topic,7390.msg58692.html#msg58692
