8.00 GB (3.99GB Usable) Gigabyte P55M-UD2 G.SKILL F3-10666CL9D0FGBNQ

Hey all,

Current Setup
Gigabyte P55M-UD2 MOBO (Bios up to date at version F11)
4x2GB G.SKILL F3-10666CL9D-4GBNQ RAM
Win 7 64.bit
Intel Core i5 3.00GHz

I was running with 4GB of this ram with no problem so I decided to buy 2 additional sticks (2 weeks ago) of the same ram to increase to 8GB.

I recieved the ram and installed it and it was showing as it should with 8.00 GB Available. Over the past week I have noticed that my system is showing 8.00 GB and 3.99 GB available.

In the bios it says this:
                               1      2      3       4
DIMM Slot (MB)      2048 2048 2048 2048
Enabled Slot (MB)   2048 2048   -       -
Total Memory Size (MB) 4096

I have tried moving the RAM around however I still get the same problem. Could this be a problem with my Motherboard RAM slots 3/4? Nothing has changed on my system it just suddenly started doing this.

Thanks

Hi bennett,  ;)

I do not know if you've done that ... but I invite you to do so.

I suggest you apply the following instructions (quote from Dark Mantis) ...
===================================================

Hi
...

Try clearing the CMOS before installing the GPU. follow these instructions exactly.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.

Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.

You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Come back here with a comments...

EDIT01 : By the way, welcome to the forum.

Hi and welcome.

It is most likely because you are still expecting the motherboard to configure your settings for you. I expect you have still got the memory settings as "Auto".  If so you will need to do all this manually now that you have filled all the banks. Enter the timings and voltage off the sticks or packaging. If that doesn't do it you will need to start tweaking the voltage of the DRAM. This is because the controller is overloaded now and needs more power to work properly.
