As you say it's an autopmated response so I wouldn't worry too much. They have asked you to send it in/fill in the forms knowing what the fault is so that means that they already accept that it has broken pins.

They've asked me to take a picture of mobo and receipt before sending it in, then they'll tell me if they will repair it... i'll do it later and see what happens

If it is a genuine DOA then you shouldn't have any problem. They are very fair.

Good quality photo (with zoom if possible) of the socket (not the whole motherboard) is definitely required

A macro lens or using the macro function on a compact camera may do the job.

That picture above was taken using the macro function of a standard 8 Megapixel compact camera not the DSLR that I use for my review photos. I then dropped the image size down to allow it to be uploaded to the forum otherwise it was 4000 x 3000 pixels and 3 odd GB in  size. Plenty enough for a nice clear shot.

Well that's my motherboard sent off today, cost me £15 in total for packaging and delivery etc. Will be there 1pm tomorrow.

It might be an idea to forward those pics to the RMA department as an attachment along with your details and given RMA# so that they have all the information they need .......if you haven't done it already of course.

Nasty damage! It looks like it had a fight with a 14lb sledge hammer and lost. There were at least three different areas that have damaged pins on there. I couldn't be more precise as the quality of the photos wasn't that good.

Anyway as teknology says send the pictures to the RMA section.

Pictures have been forwarded to RMA dept.. and yeah 3 pins that I can see are damaged...

So, I sent my board on the 20/12/2011, was received on 21/12/2011, and I just received the board back today (23/12/2011), it doesn't look like the package has been opened at all, and I can't get in touch with Gigabyte in Milton Keynes, so what's going on? I've paid £10 to deliver it there and it's just been returned...

Well I don't really want to open the box cause it's securely packaged right now, and if I take away all the tape etc i'll have to buy some more to repackage it.. but i don't think it's been opened at all, it's in like a shoebox type box, then filled with loads of bubble wrap, then the original mobo box, with loads of tape around the box, very well packaged and nothing looks peeled off or cut with a knife to open..

put just a little trust in them and open the box. otherwise you won't know if it's repaired or not until next week or 2 most probably...
from what i read here and on the other uk forums they can be really fast sometimes with their RMA service

p.s. maybe there are some papers attached or in the package with note if it has been repaired or not?
