Z68X-UD3-B3 bios update not possible via Qflash
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:38:45 am »
Hello to all & seasons greetings :)
i have version F8 bios and wanted to update bios to latest F11. I am using the Q/flash  program via a USB drive but it does not find the drive to upload the file.it is a USB 2 port (have tried different ports)
the computer can read and write to the usb drive
it is FAT32 format
USB drive is inserted when booting up and entering the Q/flash program.
am i doing the procedure the wrong way or does the usb stick not allowing this procedure?
Thanks

Hi Sol1960...seasons greetings to you also.

You state you are using a USB drive but dont state the size......a pendrive of about 2gb formatted to FAT32, containing the BIOS file, plugged into the rear of the MB and press the "END" key just as you would pressing "DEL" to enter the BIOS should take you to the start of the procedure.

Hi,

Well a pendrive like a Sandisk Cruzer Edge works well possibly down to the size. I used to use a USB drive but now use smaller capacity pendrives....2gb...like the brand I have just mentioned....and they are quite inexpensive.

Hope this helps.

Teknology9 thanks :)...........i will change the drive.........upon reflection i can get into Q/flash and toggle up/down through the options. so it seems logical that usb drive is the cause, i will update this topic tomorrow when  i purchase new drive....cheers for now

Thank You, :)

Hi

2GB is a good size usually for this type of game or even smaller. It is possible to use a larger one but I have found less problems with the smaller sizes.

Don't forget to also make sure that Legacy USB Devices and Legacy USB Storage are enabled in the BIOS and the pendrive with the BIOS file on it is inserted before booting up. Just press F12 when booting to enter the boot menu and select the pendrive. Also use one of the rear USB ports not the front.

Hi Sol1960,  ;)

Just I add infos..

In the Boot Menu (F12) .. Sometime, the usb drive is in the list of Hard Disk... so check in this list... if needed.

Use a FAT32 for your Usb key. Otherwise system not detect it.
And install Flash program and Bios find on the Gigabyte website.

You are welcome Sol and a very Merry Christmas to you too. Sometimes a particular drive doesn't seem to work well.
