GTX 580 SOC , BSOD 116. error "nvlddmkm.sys" windows 7 cannot start

   Hi ,guys i am new here and have a problem with one of GTX 580 SOC. . First to say that i have 2 of them in SLI. The problem starts yesterday and I have never had issues with the cards before. It just can`t start windows . Always shows me BSOD code 116 and an error "nvlddmkm.sys" and restarts over and over again. Temps are ok : 34ºC  idle - 75ºC  load.  I`ve tried updating the drivers , then uninstall and reinstall them but nothing solved. The issue is in the top card , because when I put only the other card everything is ok. Do you think the card is dead? I`ve purchased it 4 months ago. Very short life? hahaha  , I don`t know what can I do. Sorry for my bad english. These are my components :


      Asus P8P67 EVO B3
      Intel core i5 2500k
      Ripjaws 8Gb ddr3 1600mh
      Gigabyte GTX 580 soc SLI
      OCZ ZX series 1000w
      Cooler Master CM 690 II Advanced

And if you have make a changes on BIOS, about Memory, or Overclocking CPU or RAM by exemple, I suggest this:

I do not know if you've done that ... but I invite you to do so.

I suggest you apply the following instructions (quote from Dark Mantis) ...

Try clearing the CMOS before installing the GPU. follow these instructions exactly.

Remove the power cable from the mains supply and then press the power switch on the case for a few seconds just to drain any residual energy in the PSU capacitors.

Once done remove the motherboard battery for at least one hour before replacing it.
 
Next plug back into the mains supply and boot.
 
You will now need to enter the BIOS by pressing DEL and load Optimised BIOS Defaults.

Make any other changes to the BIOS settings to suit your self like disabling the floppy drive, disabling the full screen logo and making the HDD the primary boot device and then press F10 to save and exit.

Have you overclocking your GPU on graphic card?  Or make a change with tweaking software?

Thank you for the reply.  I`ve tried clearing CMOS but it doesn`t worked ,still crashing in windows starting. Something is wrong with the card ,because when I put the other one ,everything works fine. I`ve also tried to test the card in another PC and it shows the same problem. So I will send it to RMA. But I`m wondering what broke my card , because this problem occurred in the morning when I try to turn on my PC , not when gaming.

If it is damaged it could have been many things that caused it. A common thing that causes problems for electronics once fitted is voltage spikes and other voltage irregularities. That is why I always use a UPS. It gives protection from that type of worry and generally stabilises the line in supply.

 My PSU is OCZ ZX series 1000w  which has  Overvoltage/Overcurrent/Short-Circuit protection.
 When playing games , under load , it is noisy (like electric sound) ,  since I got it .
 Do you think this can be the cause?

Top: 140 x 25 mm fan x 1 / 1200 RPM / 19 dBA (supports 120 / 140 mm fan x 2)

These are the temperatures of the graphics card, CPU, motherboard? I prefer to check.

I want to check if you say that it is the power or the graphics card that is electrical noise.

   Hi, Gloup_Gloup.


I have one more fan in the side where are the grafics cards, blowing into the case.

The temps: 34ºC  idle - 75ºC  load , are of the grafics cards when SLI is enabled.
CPU (i5 2500k) temps are  35ºC idle - 60ºC load, on 4.5Ghz , i have  Noctua NH-U12P SE2

The electrical noise is from the PSU when I`m playing games, in the menus of the games and as higher are the FPS the noise increases.

Hi dan4o84,

Normally, when using further, system resources, or the use of the graphics card (as in games) it is normal that the temperature increases.

So if the temperature increases, the fans will run faster.
And then there will be more noise from the fans.

But you seem to say that there is electrical noise from the power supply.

In order to verify beyond any doubt, the origine of this noise, it would be to disconnect all the fans of the system.
You will hear more noise and where it comes from.
I imagine that you check if it is a noise caused by vibration of a part of the tower or other equipment.

It will also be a test to see the difference in temperature.

Of course the ventilation of the graphics card is the only one to operate.

After having properly identify the source of the noise, you can reconnect the fans.
Maybe not all, depending on the test temperature. You will have less noise too.

Try increasing the IOH (Northbridge) voltage as this can be a problem when running multiple GPUs.
