Hi MiiCK,
Excuse me MiiCK, for the benefit of persons (newbie) who are not familiar with this subject, I have more detail than necessary.
Do not take this as a personal offense. Neither the first degree.
I have to understand that you expect your overall system will go faster. Operations in memory, at least.
But you say that your CPU (and GPU) is not overclocked.
Normally the most effective and practical (
see the concrete effects) is to overclock the CPU. This is more evident.
For the RAM would require change the timings. More the numbers are low, it will be more rapid.
With cpu-z you have a starting index for the timings of your ram. See SPD Tab.
In this tab, you can see what is usually accepted for your RAM. This is not the current timing or function (Sometimes yes ...)
But it is better to trust the BIOS to be sure. But especially the
Memory tab is more important to have information on the real timing currently used by your memory.Always in CPU-Z.
Sometimes you have to also change the voltage of the RAM so that the new timings are accepted by the system.
If the new timings pass to POST and you arrive at the Windows desktop without BSOD, freeze or other sudden stop.
There is no need to change the voltage of the RAM.
I see ... your RAM have :
Speed Rating PC3-12800 (1600MHz)
Tested Latency 9-9-9-24
Tested Voltage 1.5
We are far from 667Mhz you say in your original post (OP).
Hi,
I've never changed any ram settings before on a PC, never needed too, but because this is my gaming rig and I need it to be in tip top speeds, I checked my memory speed, and in CPU-Z it's showing at 667mhz (spd slot 1 + 2).
...
Have you carefully check the Bios real timings and voltage?
Check in the M.I.T. section in BIOS. (M.I.T Motherboard Intelligent Tweaker.)
EDIT01: Advanced Memory Settings for your motherboard. (Thanks
Steve)
MiiCK, see page 39-40 on your manual.
http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z68xp-ud4_k.pdfAfter verify if the next softwares display same infos like BIOS.

MemSet
http://www.tweakers.fr/download/MemSet41.zipWarning! Memset is a software intended for experienced users, so you use it at your own risk.
MiiCK, Use only for
display functions. (Information Display).
Do not try to change anything if you do not understand or you are not sure what you have in mind to do.Always use the BIOS to make changes. It's more secure for the ram, the BIOS and the motherboard.Memset can tweak memory on platforms such as:
-INTEL 815 845 848 855 865 875 915 925 945 946 955 965 975 P35 P45 X38 & X48,
-NVIDIA nForce2, nForce 650i, 680i & 790i.
VIA-KT266/333/400/600.
-AMD K8 ddr & ddr2.
I have not tested on the platforms newer than those specified.
So it is best just to use to display information.Remember, this software is for a platform other than this topic (
This software is not done according to the P67.)
I add a picture. From my system. GA-P35-DQ6. DDR2.
Sorry again for this long reply.
I feel like a teacher, a trainer. So I often give theoretical information on the forum.
In fact, it took me over an hour to answer your question.
The preparation training is always longer than the action itself.
And I remember that I normally speak and communicate in French. In addition I have to translate my information.
