GA-78LMT-S2P FX-6100 no response at all on power up
« on: December 29, 2011, 07:33:38 am »
I'm building a new system
AMD FX-6100
GA-78LMT-S2P rev 3.1
2 GB DDR 3 PC 1333MHz
Thermaltake LP 700W

when i turn on the power, i can see that the cpu fan is slowly moving, but nothing on the screen, no beeping sound at all,
i've rechecked all the cabling and it seems solid.

what could be wrong?

Hi there,

the most common reason for this is that the BIOS doesn't support the FX processor and you need to have the F4 BIOS installed before the board will recognise the CPU.

The difficulty here is that you will need a supported CPU to allow you to flash the BIOS before you can use the FX-6100 if this is the problem.

If you check here: http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=3833 it shows all supported CPU's and the BIOS version needed.

The best advice would be to use a processor that uses the F1 BIOS to flash to the latest version which can be downloaded from here: http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3833&dl=1#bios
