GA-P67A-UD7-B3 - audio output artefacts
« on: January 08, 2012, 02:08:48 pm »
Hi all,

Got another weird problem on this board. I get low level modulating interference artefacts on both the onboard sound output and the ouput of any third party sound card. It's a sort of grainy whitish noise with an added whine, that fluctuates depending on what the system is doing. It only starts from about the last third of the windows loading screen, nothing prior, presumably this is at the point when audio drivers are loaded.

So far I have tried two different sound cards, no sound cards at all and two different graphics cards. The problems remains.

Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks,

Ollie

Hi

Have you tried re-routing your cables both inside and outside the computer ? Often interference is picked up from a parallel cable.

Have you tried using something to clean up the mains supply ?

Make sure that you have a good earth from your chassis to the mains.

Good suggestions. My hunch is that it could be a dirty supply rail, and that would suggest a PSU problem. Haven't got a spare PSU to hand but we'll try that next.

See if you can just borrow one from a friend for faultfinding purposes only. If it proves to be faulty then you can buy one knowing that you are not wasting your money.
