my MOBO provides onboard  Realtek 8111C chip (10/100/1000 Mbit) 

is this enough for 12Mbps connection on cables???

my cable company says in the system requirements:

"Up to 12Mbps (not included) , an onboard LAN with 10/100Mbps is enough".

"from 12Mbps and up, only external PCI LAN CARD in speed of 10/100/1000Mbps required"

12 megabit < 1000 megabit, so, yes.

I can't say I've seen many "external" PCI cards.

by external i meant for seprate from the mobo

and i know you understood what i meant....

so why they request for "separte  PCI netowrk card"

Your onboard LAN chip will easilly be fast enough for your incoming connection. Often these things are just added as a safety net for them.

its been long time since i saw you around

in my mobo manual , gigabyte says about the LAN connector:

there's two LED's on the connector indicating> 1 LED for the speed , 1 LED for the activity:

speed LED:
OFF=10mbps rate

green=1000mbps rate

Orange=1gbps rate
 
activity LED:

blinking: data transmission or receving is occuring

off: no data transmission or receiving is occuring

now if iam running 12mbps , i should see the speed LED orange & the activity LED in blinking orange color too ,shouldnt it be like that?

cause right now the speed LED is orange , but the activity LED is blinking green (gigabyte didnt said or mentioned if each speed rate shouldhave , diffrent blinking color though)

as i said iam running 12mbps , and thats why i ask
 what do you think?

From the sound of things the correct speed is being throughput but why the activity LED is blinking green I don't know. Maybe they have just changed the orage activity LED for a green one.

You aren't running 12mbps Ethernet; there is no such thing.  12mbps refers to throughput, not interface speed.

Your PCs NIC will negotiate the fastest connection it can with whatever it is connected to, i.e. your router/switch or cable modem.  It is connected at 1Gbps and will signal at 1Gbps, which is independent of utilisation (up to 12mbps in this instance).

didnt really got you, so you say it should be blinking orange, ? what is it the situation in your connection & the blinking LED??

Nothing has stated a specific activity LED colour; don't read into it.
