USB problems on GA-990XA-UD3
« on: February 03, 2012, 06:05:23 pm »
I having some serious concerns with USB 2.0, I and a friend of mine have burnt out in total 4 USB flashdrives in one day and have not plugged anythng else into USB until we figure out why this happened.

We plugged our flashdrives into the USB 2.0, windows recognized the flash drives and installed drivers open flash drives no problem but when we remove from computer and insert back into computer the flashdrives are burnt out not working what so ever(this happened for 3 flashdrives) , the fourth flashdrive was recongnized and drivers installed then when inserted back into usb 2.0 the drivers are reinstalled then computer asked to reboot *STRANGE* so tok out flashdrive and now its burnt out...

What is causing this on all USB 2.0 Ports???

Also  I am not sure if its the motherboard or windows 7 64 bit in system devices it shows my monitor as a Generic NON PNP monitor but I have another computer plugged in this monitor and it picks it up as it should a LG flatron L1918s I wrote to LG and they said there is no need for an installed driver from a disk Windows has the drivers..but could not answer why the monitor is showing up as a non pnp monitor...

The AMD Master ( Absic ) is in Japan presently.....he should be having his rice bubbles and Sake about now ... if you PM him he has the best chance of putting his finger on it ASAP .....

My own input would be to see if another USB "toy" besides something as delicate as a stick will function .... and see if  normal operation results ....(old USB Mouse/keyboard)....only do this if you can afford to trash it ..... there's always the chance it could fry them too.... :o

Or wait for Absic's reply... ;)

Hi

If this is happening only on the front panel USB ports then I would double check that youi haven't connected up the USB cable to the firewire (1394) header instead of the USB header on the motherboard.

If it is also happening on the rear panel ports then as long as you are sure that the drives are burnt out I would advise a trip back to the retailer to RMA the board.

Yes, Allan, it has always amazed me that they make them physically the same. Just inviting problems to my way of thinking. ::)
