Faulty Gigabyte Assassin 2? SLI Not Working

Faulty Gigabyte Assassin 2? SLI Not Working
« on: February 09, 2012, 05:22:30 am »
I have recently Upgraded my system with the following components

Gigabyte G1-ASSASSIN 2
Corsair 16GB (4x4GB) 2133MHz DDR3
Intel i7-3960X Core i7 Extreme CPU
Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H100
NEW! Intel SSD 480GB 520 Series, SATA III

Not Changed:
1200W PSU
2x 580GTX's

Previous System

i7  Quad, W SLI & Surround Working with
2x 580GTX's
1200W Silver Stone PSU

Setup Bios Stock Settings  CPU 3.30  RAM 2133
Installed Windows 7  64bit Ultimate
Installed Mobo Drivers
Installed Nvidia 285  Drivers  NO Surround Option
WTF!  Googled... Seems I need beta drivers to get surround to work
Installed 290.36

Surround Option back, tried to enable and the system goes to one screen then looks like the diver craps.
Rebooting & I get a Garbeled single display, only way to get rid of this was to go back to 1 card.

I have tested both cards in 3DMark2011 and they are both stable in single configurations
I have tested Slot 1 and Slot 3 as above.

The minute I put a second card in and attempt to enable SLI the whole system craps to 1 display and I reboot to garbledness.

I have spent 10 hours trying to get this to work, If Someone knows a workaround please help.

Does SLI work on the Non-beta non-surround drivers?

When you test the mainstream drivers please be sure to remove all traces of the beta drivers with a proper driver cleaner.

Also, be sure you are using the latest BIOS for the motherboard
