How to boot from Flash Voyager USB stick? GA-X58A-UD3R (rev. 2.0)

Maybe I am missing something here, I've tried boot options, etc...I've got a linux distribution on a flash drive I want to boot from, and there's USB-Zip, FDD, HDD and one other iirc, none of which work to boot from the flash drive.  The computer doesn't even light it up upon trying to boot.  What's the correct way to get this motherboard to boot from a flash stick? Corsair Voyager 16gb

Hi

The first thing to check is that you have got Legacy USB enabled in the BIOS so you have support for it in the DOS environment. Then you can press F12 when booting to reach the boot menu to be able to select USB drive.

Often a smaller USB pendrive works better when trying to use it as a boot device.

No such animal.  USB Storage Function support iirc is there, also the boot options are as follows:

USB-FDD
USB-HDD
USB-ZIP
USB-CDROM

*also, figured it out.  Selecting USB HDD works.

I always use F12 > HDD+ >> Then USB by name or generic USB.  

BIOS boot order (1, 2, 3 setting) do not matter to this, and should ideally always be set to:
1- Main OS hard drive
2 - disabled
3 - disabled

Yes well that would be it. I didn't mean you to take it word for word. Just that the USB legacy function needed enabling. Anyway at least you found the right setting now.

They are always changing the name of this, not sure why!!   It's actually Port 60h/64h Emulation

Yes, as you say Lsdmeasap  I really don't know why they keep changing the name of it. Why they don't just stick to one descriptive title I don't know. Another one for the list is Legacy USB Devices. I know that covers the mice and keyboards etc as well but just thought I would throw it in there.
