GA-K8NF-9 SATA 2 Compatible?

I have the above listed Motherboard and want to upgrade my HD to a WD Velociraptor 10,000rpm 300GB. Is it worth the investment? Can the nmotherboard handle the Sata 2 connection or will it run at Sata 1 speeds?

It would or should give you a quicker read/write time,and you may find you pc a little quicker,
Hey whether it is a worthwhile investment, depends on you, it woud be ok for future proofing when you upgrade,

Thanks for info, based on your comment I am tempted, however, I am having a nightmare trying to find the BIOS update for the Motherboard.
The info I have is :-
Award Modular BIOS V6.00PG
GA-K8NF- 9 F2
12/17/2004-NF-CK804-6A61FG0AC-00

Any ideas on how I can track this down - I've tries the WIMBIOS scan but that doesn't find it - I've left a message on the Support site in the meantime.

Thanks for your support it is very much appreciated.
I have found this page before, however, as I am unsure of the revision of the BIOS - currently lists Rev 1.0x or Rev 2.0x I am unsure which to use.
Once I have this confirmed, do you recommend I go for the last update or do I need to Flash Each Update in order released?

Hi,
I follwed the procedure as recommended using the @BIOS utility and now my PC will not boot. It seems unable to recognise the SATA drives, the only drive it recognises is my External Drive.
Is there any hope in recovering this?

DID YOU SAVE/Backup bios before you flashed?
DID You go into Bios and reset all to default?
There is/ was a pdf file how to flash alongside in the guide did you download it?
@bios is not perfect, thats why i recommended qflash,

The anwser is yes to all of the above, however, I tried to use the Qflash option from the BIOS menu but this didn't get past the menu where you confirm to enter the qflash service - it just sat there asking me to confirm Y?
I did follow the instructions to the letter.
I have now got the PC working again (Thank goodness...Huge sigh of relief)
The problem was that the RAID settings, don't ask me why as the discs are not raided - needless to say I am pleased that I am back up and running and will ensure to give Flash updates a wide berth in the future.
Thanks for your continued support, its good to know that the forum works - it is a shame the Flash BIOS update procedure didn't.

There is little difference between SATA1 and SATA2 HD's havent topped SATA1 speeds just yet nevermind sata2, the main difference is the connection SATA2 has a clip in connection SATA1 does not. If I were you i'd go for the Samsung F3 for about £60
