GA-Z68X-UD4-B3 and Marvell SATA Controller Driver 1.1.0.1010

I downloaded the Marvell SATA Controller driver 1.1.0.1010 from the Gigabyte support site and attempted to install it on my PC running Win7 64-bit.

The downloaded file extracted to a file drvSetup.exe which I executed as an administrator.  The install seemed to go fine and I rebooted the PC.

BUT...when I check the Device Manager section in Computer Management in the Storage controllers section it lists:
- Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller
- Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller
- Marvell AHCI SATA Controller

When I look at the driver details for the first two it says:
- Driver version 1.2.0.1002
- Driver version 1.0.0.1008 (for the last entry above).

So what happened to updating to version 1.2.0.1010?

Is there something else I need to do or am I missing something altogether?

It is my first build PC so just a bit concerned that the update does not seem to have worked?

Any assistance would be gratefully received thanks!

Often driver packages install many various versions of different drivers, if you installed the latest package then all drivers will be up to date of their respective versions.

I see 1.2.0.1010 is the version they have posted, if it said an older version when you downloaded maybe they just forgot to update the shown version info until later after you'd already downloaded it?

Also, to add to my comments above, often times driver package version numbers may not be the same as the internal driver version numbers, so it's normal to see what you mentioned

Ahh, I see what you mean.   I downloaded it and looked inside at the actual drivers, and ya that driver string is just the old original name/version, they just never updated it since 2009 (DriverVer=07/13/2009,1.0.0.1008.)



If you want newer drivers then you need to install the full MSU package, the 40MB one, that has newer drivers in it!
