Sata stays asleep after Hibernation on 650i

I have this problem now that I am trying to save the world (by reducing carbon use).
When my system goes into hibernation the hard drive connected to the SATA port stays asleep . Both hard drives are Maxtor. I have to go into control panel, device mgr, and "scan for hardware changes" to get the drive to wake up again. Hibernation is quite important as the PC takes too long to boot every time.
I am using xp sp2, 2gb ram,  c2d 6750, 1x320gb ide pata (OS disk) 1x 320 SATA disk.(page file). Page file relocated as possibility to keep device awake.

And I cannot overclock my system to any degree as it becomes unstable whatever mem /cpu voltage I use. My memory is Crucial  ballistix 6400...I blame the red hot north bridge as I use an Arctic cooler on the CPU.

what is exact model of your MB and its bios version ?
Maybe you should try to upgrade SATA driver to the newest one.

Can you see SATA HDD in "Device Manager" and "My Computer" after waking up from hibernation ? If yes then what happens when you try to access it ? Anyway it should be accessed already during waking up as page file is located there.

My motherboard is a Nforce 650I SLI ds4.
System BIOS : 06/01/2007-C55-MCP51-6A61IG02C-00

Sata hdd is not shown after waking up from Hibernation. hence "scan for hardware changes" etc.

try to install and use latest nvidia chipset drivers ver.15.23 from:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.23.html

if this will not help then you may connect your SATA HDD to different connector on the MB as there are 4 SATA connectors.
